Where will You be Lord this Christmas?

Where will You be Lord this Christmas as far as the world is concerned
out of all that You've taught us these two thousand years
is there anything anyone's learned
Do they know that Your judgement is coming to all
do they know there's an end to Your grace
that Your Spirit will not strive forever with man
that there's always an end to a race
Can't they see all the signs of Your coming
how your truths are all being unfurled
of the earthquakes, the wars and disasters
and the lawlessness gripping this world
Have we chosen to each go our own foolish way
do we all sing our own selfish song
are we doing what's right in our own blinded eyes
even though we know You say it's wrong
Has the world turned its back on You Jesus
do they think the cross lies in the past
can't they see it was just the beginning
that the end's spinning close very fast
Yes where will You be Lord this Christmas
in a world full of darkness and sin
will Your light be shut out of so many homes
while a Santa and tinsel come in
Will they close their ears to Your knocking
while You stand at the door one more time
and will they still be stood at the chimney
when the clock makes its final chime?

' For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and knew not until the flood came and took them all away;  so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.'   Matthew ch.24 vs.38,39

Do we really recognize the wiles of SATAN (which rearranged spells SANTA), and have we really noticed how Jesus is being replaced at this time of year.

The Substitute

He's trying to take Your place Lord
he's been at it for many years
he says 'I come with gifts for all
I'll wipe away your tears'
He wears a robe of scarlet
and a smile is on his face
but no one would guess the heartache
he will bring to many a place
He shows himself late November, in each home he will surely appear
he demonstrates toys on the tele and says 'Christmas is nearly here'
Each year they get more expensive - a computer or chemistry set
he slowly puts pressure on parents who are tempted to go into debt
All children are told 'Santa's coming, he's got a great bag on his back'
but nobody seems to be bothered that daddy has just had the sack
'I'll start with the youngest children' says the 'Tempter' in disguise
never mind if mummy is crying as to make ends meet she tries
He's trying to take Your place Lord as he sits inside every store
and shouts a loud 'Merry Christmas'
to each person that comes through the door
But the spirit he drinks is not Holy
and the hands he holds out do not heal
the words that he speaks bring no wisdom
and the love that he shows is not real

How strange he should come at Christmas
and offering gifts like You do
and he's known to many as 'father'
while a baby child represents You
But for me there is only one Father
and of Him alone will I sing
while His Son is no longer a baby
He's a two thousand year old king!
Yes he's trying to take Your place Lord
'though he knows that his time is short
but the presents he brings can never compare
to the wonderful gift You have brought
For whatever disguise he may come in
and whatever good thing he might bring
the one thing he never will offer is salvation through JESUS the king
So never a red robed Santa will ever adorn my front door
it's the blood of my Lord on my doorpost
brings me peace and goodwill evermore

' They have lyre and harp, timbrel and flute and wine at their feasts; but they do not regard the deeds of the Lord, or see the work of His hands. '
 Isaiah ch.5 v.12

Oh light of Heaven - Holy king of whom the hosts of angels sing
rekindle flame in darkened Earth by stirring those of second birth
to speak with boldness of the love sent by the Father from above
                                         ********
When on a night so dark and cold was prophesy fulfilled of old
a child to maid of no renown was born to wear man's thorny crown
to bear the shame and take the place of mankind fallen from God's grace
                                         ********
Who now, with sin beneath His feet, stands at the side of God's own seat
declaring peace forever more to those who enter through the door
of righteousness gained by God's Son
.......the Father's gift to everyone

'and the government will be on His shoulders, and He will be called Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Isaiah ch.9 v.6

Excellent post. For me, Christmas is about family and peace and remembering Jesus' arrival on earth. Yes a Christian can have a good Christmas too!

Hi Eya,
I felt I had to put up this post for Christmas as I feel that Satan is a master deceiver and, I don't know what it is like over with you, but there is very little of Christ proclaimed at Christmas over here. By the way I tried to comment on your blog just now and facebook kept coming up on the left side. I don't know if it was to do with the internet here, I will try again.

Hi Tim,
yes Christmas is everything you have said it is, and I love this time of year. It is meant for celebration and enjoyment and I have lovely memories of my childhood Christmases with our stockings at the bottom of the bed and our prezzies waiting for us in the morning. We never had a lot of money, but it didn't matter. We didn't need loads of money to be happy.
Enjoy your Christmas this year.

As a child I do remember the excitement of receiving toys at Christmas, but as you say, little or no regard for the birth of our Saviour. Realising that Santa is an anagram for Satan is chilly, and furthermore he does have the ability to temporary cheer the unbeliever's heart in order to keep him blinded from the truth of the Gospel.
Perhaps we should be more honest and admit that what we are really celebrating on December 25th is Saturnalia, a pagan festival of rejoicing that the sun will slowly rise above the horizon, bringing Spring, warmer weather, lighter evenings and a rebirth of life.
I suppose it was no accident that we have the word "Xmas." Satan is terrified of the name "Christ."
An excellent collection of poetry.

Hi Brenda,
What a beautiful reminder of what Christmas is all about.

It hurts so much knowing there are so many people who don't know what Christmas is about. About 8 years ago while driving down the road in town, I noticed a sign that was put up by a small mechanic shop, it said, Keep CHRIST in Christmas. I still remember the utter joy I felt when I read that. What a wonderful way to testify and show others that the season is ALL about Jesus.

Blessings hon,
<><

Thanks Brenda, the post is a teacher. Thanks for letting me know about the facebook thing, I am going to fix it right away.
Tnx.

Eya Ayambem said...

I think I just fixed it. When you try again, if Facebook comes up please let me know and, thank you for caring.Hugs!

Brenda said...

Hi Frank,
thankyou for your comment. Yes, the 25th is really the pagan celebration of the sun god, but we know that there is only one God who created that sun so every day is a celebration of Him. I do believe, as you have so aptly put it,that Satan 'does have the ability to temporary cheer the unbeliever's heart in order to keep him blinded from the truth of the Gospel', but he is not able to offer what Jesus offers, eternal life and reconciliation with God.
Have a lovely Christmas.

Brenda said...

Hi child of God,
how lovely was that sign outside the mechanic shop. I also thank God for the internet, and how we are able to share the Gospel not only in the street but over the air. There is only One winner, and I want to be in His corner.
God bless you and have a lovely Christmas.

Hi Eya,
will try it now.

Amazing poems, Brenda! Satan is the master deceiver and the master distracter, using Santa to take our focus from the true meaning of Christmas -- God with us; God's Son wrapped in human flesh so that all who trust in His death, burial & resurrection as the only way to heaven will have eternal life.
God bless,
Laurie

Brenda said...

Hi Laurie,
yes Satan is exactly that, the master deceiver, and especially taking the focus of the unbeliever off Jesus, as Frank perfectly put it in his comment 'he does have the ability to temporary cheer the unbeliever's heart in order to keep him blinded from the truth of the Gospel.'

S. Knowles said...

I love it, Miss Brenda your the best poet ever. You opened my eyes about the Santa thing and
I'm glad! To God be the Glory. Blessings and peace to you sister :-)

You nailed it with this insightful post, Brenda. The Christ has been stylishly taken out of Christmas and we are left with a seeming commercial substitute which is really the devil in disguise. Father, help us keep you in view as the sole reason for the season.

Brenda said...

Hi Sateigdra, thankyou for your kind comment, althought I have come across much better poets than me. What the great deceiver does for me though is make me more ardent to preach the good news of Christ, so he actually makes me stronger not weaker. Praise our lovely Lord,
God bless

Brenda said...

Hi Ivy,
the deceiver might be at work to take Christ out of Christmas, but he can't take Him off the throne. He is a God of every day of the year, not just one, and He is the giver of the best gift mankind could ever have. All other gifts are nice, but are only temporary as Frank has stated.
God bless

BRAVE AFRICAN said...

To Brenda,
Thank you so much for another very important teaching. Truth be told, Chrismas has no bearing with Jesus, and it is only the church that is very slow to see it. "while shepherds watched their flock by night, all seated on the ground... Question, how could the flock be grazing during winter? Where would they even find the grass in winter? Chronologically, if we are truly interested in knowing when Jesus was born based on the gregorian calendar, then we should be celebrating His birth between September 23 and 29...
I have never met anyone that would be happy with a good friend that keeps wishing him/her a HBD on the wrong day... It's a sign that you are not interested in knowing the person in question well and intimately.
Finally on this subject, December 25 is, and remains the feast of the sun god, also known as baal or nimrod the hunter... The sadness of adaptations of the idolatry of Europe into the realities of scripture is something the church must learn to be wary of. Why is there so much bloodshed and debauchery within that season, where people loose their minds like there is no tomorrow, when His coming was meant to bring good tidings of comfort and joy?
People can celebrate their family reunions and togetherness how ever they want, but I submit that it should not be done in the name of Chrismas.
His name is still Lucifer... Devil (deceiver) and Satan (accuser) are merely his characters. We must refuse to be deceived anymore.
Thanks again ma'am... Best wishes
P:S - I left a reply on your comment on the concept of true love.

Brenda said...

Hi brave African,
I agree with everything you have said and know exactly what celebration is associated with 25th of December and it is not even that which is the danger, because I am well aware that our God is the God of every single day of the year. The real danger, and especially in this section of the world, is that many are trying to blank out God and Jesus' teachings and a perfect way to do it on 25th of December is to brainwash the youngest generation, at a time when many Christians DO celebrate the birth of Jesus, by replacing Him with a substitute. Lucifer actually means 'light bearer', and there is yet another story there.
God bless you as you teach the truth.

Hi Brenda,
Thank you for visiting my site and leaving your kind comment. It breaks my heart that so many people are blind to the coming of Jesus. It is sad so many people celebrate Christmas and think little of the One who came down from heaven to give His life for us that we may be with God for eternity.
Blessings,
Ken

Hi Ken,
I visited your site after reading your comment on another blog, I found the post I read lovely and want to read more of your posts. I truly believe that if we each share what the Lord gives His people to share wherever He tells us to share it, then there can only be one winner. It is a spiritual warfare we are in and the Lord is the mightiest warrior of all.
God bless you
and may you and your family have a lovely Christmas.

A beautiful post Brenda and a wonderful reminder to not only celebrate the birth of Christ, but also rejoice is His soon return. One thing is for sure being unlike the first time, everyone will know of His arrival the second time and every knee shall bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord. Anytime is fine by me! 

Blessings to you and yours and Merry Christmas to all!

Hi Darryl,
yes that is what is so lovely that because the Lord wants everyone to come to the knowledge of salvation through Jesus then it is important that we do what He asks each one of us, and it is an honour to do that. Our times are in God's hands and we know not what tomorrow brings, He does. I have been reading your post on Revelation and have still more to read. I find Revelation interesting and many people have varied views on it, as I do myself on the part which I have read.

Hi Brenda,

The way SANTA refigured spells satan...I was telling my daughter about that recently...also, do you realize that elves are a type of 'imp', which is a demon...Santa is the leader of the elves, like Satan is the leader of imps that do his bidding.
I am in awe of your wonderful poetry here, and the truth of what you have posted is not an easy pill to swallow for many.
I am sad at how deceived even believers (churches) are...But then Jesus warned that even the elect will be decieved.
What, if any, are some suggestions you think we as Christians should do to help to counteract the way the world has turned the most solemn and Holy events into a pagan celebration? I believe we should honor and God each day...I am leaving the nativity set out all year, just to help remind everyone that Jesus was given as a gift for all, and that prophecy was fulfilled according to scripture...and will be again at His second coming!
Maybe it would be nice to celebrate the birth of our savior at the appropriate time...some might call this radical ;) By the way...
The definition of radical is: returning to the center of something!

Brenda said...

Hi never forsaken,
yes,I agree with your comment and all of what is happening is prophetic. I do not worry about what is happening in the world only because I know that God is in charge. I believe we must only do what the Lord has called us to do as 'except the Lord build the house those who labour, labour in vain'. He is a God who loves the whole of mankind and I feel that love immensely when I write or speak about Him. I believe the problem arises in His church when we try to sort the problem out ourselves instead of relying on the Lord to use each of us in a way that He chooses. If we look at the original church of believers nearly two thousand years ago, as written in the new testament, we can see how vastly different some of the Christian gatherings operate now. Unless all are used to bring and do what the Lord has commissioned them to do then the Holy Spirit is in danger of being quenched. There is a message that stands out to me regarding Jesus 'Do whatever He tells you to do.'
God bless you in what the Lord has brought you to do, and you and your family have a very happy Christmas.

So beautiful, so real, so true, so powerful. Your gift is obvious and I am very happy to make your acquaintance. I've been quite busy but wanted to take out the time and savor Gods' power in word. Thank you Ms. Brenda !!!

Hello Jimmie,
'So beautiful, so real, so true, so powerful.' Isn't that the perfect description of our lovely Jesus, the Word of God. As soon as I read your words, the Lord came into my mind. Whatever gift we have been given they must be used to glorify Him, how can we hide such a life - giving light under a bushel. It is a pleasure to have come to know you too. God bless you and the gift that you have been given.
