Time, and the timeless Word of God

A few years ago my sister bought me a clock for my birthday.  It was black, wrought iron and matched the curtain pole and the light shade in our bedroom.  I loved it and wanted it on my bedside cabinet.  The trouble was, we already had and still have a clock there, a radio clock with an alarm.  This clock is digital and the time shines red in the dark.  I like to see the time during the night so I  kept it where it was.  I then had two clocks on my bedside cabinet.

As I looked at them they emphasised to me life, and the choices of how I fill the time spent in it.  One was decorative, cannot be seen in the dark, and had no alarm.  The other can be seen shining brightly in the dark and has an alarm that is able to tell all who hear it that the dawn is coming.  I have a choice, as a Christian, whether I carry on as a person who knows Jesus as my saviour but does not share the good news of the gospel, or whether I shine that light that has come into my life in this dark world, and contribute to the salvation of others who don't know Him.

At that time I was attending a writers' circle and a lady at that week's meeting related an incident when a peacock was amongst a group of children.  She said that the children gazed in awe when the peacock displayed its beautiful tail.  Before that, the peacock had just been another bird to the children.

I have a small peacock ornament in one of my plant pots.  I noticed one day that the body had faded but the tail was as beautiful and bright as when I had been given it some years ago.  The body of the peacock is synthetic, but the tail is made from real peacock feathers. What was man made had faded, what was created by God had not.
We have all been given gifts, as part of the body of Christ, for building one another up to spiritual maturity, and we must all function with those gifts.  Otherwise, the body of Christ on earth will be like my peacock, part man made, part God created.  That which is of man fades with time, only that which is of God can remain forever.

The power in the word of God is amazing.   It is foolishness to the carnal mind, but to those who are born of God's Spirit it  has the power to transform us into the image of our Lord, to draw all mankind to it, (for just like those children gazed in awe at the beautiful tail of the peacock, so too does that word of God have that kind of power over mankind).  It has the power to  do what man can not do, and has the ability to remove doubt and cause faith to increase.

An example of this to me was when, this morning, I asked the Lord to give me a word of encouragement regarding His promise of healing my body (as my trust in this long, on-going trial was being severely tested over the last few weeks ).  After asking Him this I opened my Bible to where I had previously underlined Matthew ch. 21 vs. 21 and 22 which reads :-
'And Jesus answered them Truly, I say to you, if you have faith and never doubt, you will not only do what has been done to this fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, 'Be taken up and cast into the sea,' it will be done.  And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.'

We are told in Romans ch. 15 v. 4
'For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.'

I could not have had better encouragement to endure the trial and continue trusting in the Lord for the promise of God (my healing) which is 'Yes' in Jesus.

On the front of my computer there is a picture of a place north of where we live.  I have always had a scripture on this picture which is also great encouragement to me every time I turn on my computer.

I have been shown many times in that word that there is a time for everything, including healing, and that my times are in God's hands.

All that is necessary for me to receive that promise to me is to continue to 'trust' and 'believe'.

A very most excellent illustration of letting one's inner light shine!
I will never look at my clock in the same way again -- it will forever hold your new message of let your light shine -- no longer just be a plain time element.

Hello,
I don't know what your name is but I believe I have visited your blog before. Thank you for your kind comment. I find it fascinating the way the most ordinary of every day happenings can speak spiritually, and I know they teach me many things.

Very encouraging Brenda. Your story about the peacock reminded me of this scripture, "A song of ascents. Of Solomon. Unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain." Psalm 127:1. Truly only what God does will remain but those things that are not of Him will not. Reminds me of this scripture too, "And His voice shook the earth then, but now He has promised, saying, "YET ONCE MORE I WILL SHAKE NOT ONLY THE EARTH, BUT ALSO THE HEAVEN."This expression, "Yet once more," denotes the removing of those things which can be shaken, as of created things, so that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe" Hebrews 12:26-28 Only God's Kingdom remains.

Amen to what you have said Sateigdra.
I love it as we learn to discern what is of God and what is of man. The Lord is constantly reminding me to take every thought captive and bring it into obedience to Christ (the Word). My carnal mind would cause doubt and fear to take over, especially in my trials, whereas the mind of Christ encourages me to trust in that word spoken to me and allow it to prove itself true.

Hi Brenda! I am so sorry that you are having health issues. I am so happy that you 'found' that Scripture to ease your heart and mind. The bible is just filled with such wonderful support and love from God, and I think he really wanted you to feel at ease.
You aren't the only one to fall prey to worry, I do that too. But we do have each other, and we have the Word. That's good news for sure.

Nice to see you today :)

Hi Ceil,
my health issue is to do with me asking the Lord about twenty five years ago to teach me about sickness and healing, and I immediately started to have lumps growing in my body. I had received a miraculous healing, which the Lord showed me was due to the 'prayer of faith' that an elder of a church in Australia had made for me, and other healings, and also sometimes was not healed. I did not understand why His children were not healed from all sicknesses.

One of the first scriptures He gave to me was 'Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help (Spiritually meaning 'Do not go to the world for help). He has kept me all these years, giving me a peace as I go through this trial, and speaking to me through His word from every direction as I wait upon Him for the healing He promised me in Psalm 103. It is amazing the way He proves His word true when we learn to trust Him. I believe that He will fulfil His promise to me at the right time, and love Him for the comfort and peace His Rhema Word brings to me through the written scriptures and through my sisters and brothers in the Lord.

God bless you Ceil, lovely to see you too.

Dear Brenda,
What a beautiful, encouraging post, and a confirmation and reminder to make the wise decision for the things of God, and not the things of this world, to store up treasures in Heaven and cherish that which is spiritual and eternal. I have missed your writing & I'm blessed to have read this today.
God bless you,
Laurie

Hi Laurie,
lovely to see you again. You are so right about storing up the treasures in Heaven and cherishing that which is spiritual and eternal. It is good to get back to visiting other sisters' and brothers' blogs, and I love how the Lord can speak from anywhere on this planet to anyone on it at any time.
God bless you.

Came to me to post the following on one of your blogs as well.

You had wondered why you could not find the comments we had made @ "Who is this "imag"ined pagan catholic and christian 'jesus'"?

And i posted:

i had posted the following:
-------
i believe any further "commun"ication should be via e-mail".

my preferred e-mail address is gfrancisd@gmail.com
--------
When i received no response that day i deleted the comments we had made previously.

The comments that i deleted were regarding your believing that 'jesus' was a familiar name to pagan catholics and christians and so you used that name.

Yet i believe 'jesus' to be the "imag"ined son of the devil, he who is the "god of this world" and religion's way in this day and age!

And TRUTH IS! Yahshua, or Joshua in modern english, is the GOD given Hebrew birth name of The Messiah.

And TRUTH IS not a "whatever".......

i will only speak or write the anglicized pagan latin catholic word of 'jesus' in a negative sense, such as 'jesus' is the "imag"ined name given to one head of the pagan catholic and christian three headed pagan god(s)!

Thankfully i am a "Born Again" brother of The Messiah whose "circumcision is that of the heart in The SPIRIT"! A Hebrew(one from beyond) and a Jew whose "citizenship IS !NOW! in Heaven!

And Thankfully, liken unto The Messiah, i also have REALized "i can do nothing of my own self"....... (John 5:30; 8:28-29)

FATHER Help!

HE DID! and HE does.......

HalleluYAH!

Hello again,
I gave my response to this on your blog. Regarding the name of any Hebrew person in the Bible, it always emphasises who a person is and what that person does, and that is what really matters.

Dear Brenda,
I truly believe that God is using the Internet in these last days to connect believers across the globe, for mutual edification and support, and for witness to the unsaved. May God bless you for all you do to reach and encourage others.
Love in Christ,
Laurie

Brenda said...

Hi Laurie
yes, I believe this too. I was actually shown this through a poem that just dropped into my head over twenty years ago. At the end of the poem were the words 'And when you've learned your Father's ways, each day to you revealed, then you too will show the world just how my love is sealed.'

This did not make sense to me then as I had never been on the Internet, or even had a computer. Now it makes sense, and I agree with you Laurie that all believers' interaction is absolutely for mutual edification and support.
God bless you Laurie with the love of Christ.

Just to add, Laurie
'And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death'

Somehow I missed this post until today, but I believe that's no accident as just last night I had trouble sleeping because I had watched a program about 'time' by Steven Hawking.
I too seem to need a clock by my bedside that I can see throughout the night..(good analogy and similar to scripture about a candlestick that is set upon a table and not hidden below)...
Beautiful place near where you live!

Hi Lisa,
I came over to your blog and several others the other day and only got to read part of them. I can not believe that the older I get, the busier I get. We have been in this property for about six months and it is on-going projects (although we have tradesmen to do most of the work now). Because of the time of year the garden has been taking up a lot of my time, (I tell my legs who is boss, and it is not the enemy who is trying to focus my mind on my 'Job' trial at this moment). I believe absolutely in the promise that God has given me regarding my healing being 'Yes' in Jesus. I am glad that the 'time' part spoke to you, and am going to make 'time' myself tomorrow to visit the blogs I want to visit (including yours), and enjoy interaction with my blogger friends.
Yes, even though Wales is not a very large country Lisa, there are some beautiful places not very far from us as we are close to coast, valleys and mountains.
God bless you Lisa.

Woke up this morning to these three verses. Thought of you and your testimony, with Paul.

"Be strong and courageous, for your work will be rewarded." Chronicles 15:7

"I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize." Philippians 3:13

"I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength."
Philippians 4:13

May Bless You and Your Family.

Meet you at the Southern Gate, my Sister.

Brenda said...

Good 'afternoon' Keith,
thank you for your encouragement. I have to say that the Lord has highlighted every one of these scriptures to me during my trial, and I feel that He is confirming His word to encourage me to endure my trial through you my brother.

At this time the Lord is having me to read a chapter of the book of Job each day, and it is amazing how Spiritually what was happening in Job's life is happening in mine.

I know absolutely that all I have to do is trust in God to bring me through and it can only add spiritual strength and blessing, as it did with Job.

God bless you and your family Keith.

Amen to the Southern Gate meeting.

Hi Brenda, I don't think that you need encouragement.

Encouragement, for what ? So that you can stay sick and continually suffer for the rest of your life ?
What kind of encouragement is that ?
And what kind of a god is he who lets you suffer in sickness without even lifting his finger ?
It looks to me that he enjoys to play a cat and mouse game with you so that you never come to repentance.

Perhaps you should turn to the ONLY true God the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth (Jude 1:25).
There is NOT ONE who came to the Lord Jesus Christ and was NOT healed, ALL were healed.
What do you think, if you would come to Him ? Would He turn you away ?

Brenda said...

Hi Paul,
Jesus was able to heal each one because He had 100% faith. I have had miraculous healings and other healings and I believe that my on-going trial is for a purpose. Ever since I asked the Lord to teach me about sickness and healing I have been strengthened by the rhema word to trust absolutely in God for my healing and not to worry about the timing of that healing.

The instruction to the church if they are sick is to call for the elders of the church and have them to anoint us with oil in the name of the Lord and the PRAYER OF FAITH will raise them up. I believe that the Lord is showing me during my trial that there is a lack of faith in the church, as the Lord is not a liar in what He says so the reason that people are not healed is either a lack of faith or they are trusting in man and not in God.

His Word is being made void by the doctrines of man. I was in a church recently where a man who was called a 'pastor' said. 'What do we do when we are ill? We go to a doctor of course.' That is not what we are told to do in the scriptures.

The Lord has led me down this path (and there is no way that I would tell anyone else to go down the same path unless they had been instructed by the Lord to do so), and I have to say that I have had very little 'suffering'. I have been having pain in my joints for a while but it is amazing how the Lord takes away most of the pain, and sometimes all of it, when I go out into the streets each week, and when I pray to Him at really bad times (He does not give us more than we can bear.)

Even through this I have been shown that the children are for signs and portents and that much of the church is spiritually like the dry bones. What happened in fleshly Israel is happening in Spiritual Israel today.

It is a case of, as far as the enemy is concerned:- 'and they overcame him by the blood of the lamb and the word of their testimony.' The fact that the Lord has kept me with growths in my body for over twenty years I find is a wonderful encouragement, not only to myself but to others that I have spoken to, to trust in the Lord with all our heart and not to lean on our own understanding.

I asked Him to teach me about sickness and healing, and He told me not to go to the world for help. The scriptures say that 'Every word of God proves true; He is a shield to those who take refuge in him.', so unless I allow that word 'not to go down to Egypt' (the world) for help in this trial, and act upon the word given to me in it (no matter how long it will go on)it will not be able to 'prove true'.

I have always believed that God could keep a person alive no matter what was in their body, and I would rather put my trust in Him than in faithless man. That is more or less all I can say Paul.

In the meantime I pray for the gifts to operate in the church, and for my faith to keep increasing.

May God be glorified.

Paul G said...

Yes Brenda, that all sounds nice, but the Catholics, Muslims, Jehovah Witnesses, Christians etc. they all have the same story just like you.

Each one call's upon the name of their own god and all of their gods never do anything, apart from playing silly games to satisfy their useless religion.

Perhaps one day you might believe in the 'Jesus', in the one that I believe and not in another (2 Cor. 11:4) who cannot heal you.
If you believe in a god who is not God, Christ is NO benefit to you.

Brenda said...

Paul,
after all the conversations we have had, and all the scripture that has come out in those conversations, I still do not understand why you don't believe what Jesus says regarding His Father. Jesus is the only mediator between man and God, the Word made flesh. I believe every Word that He speaks to me, and actually come to know Him more as I seek Him in my life. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, it comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.
If you say that Jesus has no Father, when Jesus speaks of the Father, then to me that is preaching another Jesus.

Paul G said...

Brenda, I am going to post the same answer as I have posted on Keith-s blog (No Doubt).

"Yes Brenda, but you don't believe that!

The Lord Jesus is speaking metaphorically about Himself and you don't believe that. For that reason He said, 'If you do not believe that I am 'HE', you will die in your sins (John 8:24)'.

That 'HE' is written with a capital 'H'. That does NOT refer to the metaphoric language (as Son), but it refers to GOD the Almighty the creator of heaven and earth.
That is where your problem is.
You are thinking that the Lord Jesus is talking about another one.
But NO! He is talking about Himself, and He is calling you to believe in Him and NOT in another one.
You certainly do not have the mind of Christ, otherwise you would believe in Him."

And NO, you don't believe every Word He speaks, in fact you don't believe anything the Lord says.
In John 10:30 Jesus says, 'I and the Father are ONE'! But you say that Jesus and the Father are TWO.
Do you call that believing every Word of the Lord ? I don't think so Brenda.
Yes you say, 'May God be glorified', but tell me,which God do you glorify ?
It's all religious rhetoric and it means absolutely nothing.
Muslims do as good as you, and they also glorify this unknowable god just like you.
But you need to repent and turn to the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved.

Brenda said...

Paul,
I always refer to Jesus with a capital H (in He). Jesus is the Son of God.
If you read further on in John ch. 8 it reads:-

'He said to them, “You are from below, I am from above; you are of this world, I am not of this world. I told you that you would die in your sins, for you will die in your sins unless you believe that I am he.” They said to him, “Who are you?” Jesus said to them, “Even what I have told you from the beginning. I have much to say about you and much to judge; but He who sent Me is true, and I declare to the world what I have heard from Him.” They did not understand that he spoke to them of the Father. So Jesus said, “When you have lifted up the Son of man, then you will know that I am he, and that I do nothing on my own authority but speak thus as the Father taught me. And he who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, for I always do what is pleasing to him.” (vs. 23 - 29)

I believe every Word that Jesus says, and here He is saying that He is the One sent from the Father, and Who declares what the Father has taught Him.
The Spirit in Him was the Spirit of God, which is the same as what is in us when we have been born again of that Spirit. He was the first of many brethren, the first born of all creation. He was not the first Adam, who was a living being formed from dust of the earth, He was the second Adam - a life-giving Spirit.

'So it is written: "The first man Adam became a living being"; the last Adam, a life-giving spirit' (1 Corinthians ch. 15 v. 45)

God makes everything new and has a wonderful plan:-

'And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying: “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man, and He will live with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the former things have passed away.” And the One seated on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” Then He said, “Write this down, for these words are faithful and true.”…

Paul G said...

Brenda, only GOD has capital letters, man does not.
Adam is the son of God (Luke 3:38), notice, small 's'. I am a son of God, also small 's'.

Jesus is NOT the son of God!
Jesus is CALLED the Son of God (Luke 1:35).
Jesus to be the Son of God is a metaphoric terminology, meaning that God who is Spirit (John 4:24), or do you want me to say that JESUS who is the Spirit (2 Cor. 3:17) clothed Himself with flesh and lived among us just like a man. And only in that sense He is CALLED the Son of God.

Brenda, in the Scriptures, they worshiped the Lord Jesus Christ just as I worship the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus did NOT deny worship but it is He who said that you should worship only the LORD your God and NO OTHER.

Can you see, if Jesus is not your God, you WILL worship a false god which is the devil.
There is NO other way !
Brenda, you have NOT and you do NOT lift up the Son of man, otherwise you would know that the Lord Jesus Christ is the Lord God Almighty.

No you don't believe every word from the Bible, many times I have demonstrated that to you.
You believe in a false god and you need to repent.

Brenda said...

As soon as Jesus was baptized, He went up out of the water. Suddenly the heavens were opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and resting on Him. And a voice from heaven said, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased!”

Paul, the physical Jesus in the Bible was the Son of God because He was born of that Spirit (God). As a man thinks, so he is. When we have the mind of Christ, through being born again of the Holy Spirit, then we are one with Him, Who was One with God. Jesus was One with God in Spirit not in flesh. He was the Word of God made flesh, the One Whom God made my Lord. He spoke of His Father, and I agree with what He said. There are many people who say that a person does not even have to be baptized, that is up to them, even Jesus was baptized. I believe in what that Word says, and will carry on believing it. It has brought me a peace that passes all understanding and made my previous 'death experience' make perfect sense. Knowledge is increased in these latter days and I will go on seeking the Lord and doing my utmost to act upon the Word given to me until He returns. Thank God for Jesus - Y'shua - my Saviour.

Paul G said...

Brenda, you just don't understand the Scriptures.
And for that reason you don't believe in the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth, it's that simple.
You need to trim your lamb so that only the Lord Jesus Christ remains and NOBODY else, NO other god, NO other identity, NO other person, NO other spirit.

Brenda, I have explained the baptism of the Lord Jesus many times, but it seems to me that you can't hear.
Jesus said, 'let him who has ears hear what the Spirit says to the churches'.
You need to carefully listen what the Lord Jesus is saying, and also you need to think, don't assume.

Look Brenda, if you can't hear, then just ask the Lord Jesus to open your ears. Remember, He can do all things and nothing is impossible for Him.

I do not question your sincerity, I question your stubbornness.
The Lord's Name is NOT Y'shua.
The Lord's Name is JESUS !!
You purposely diminish His Name and I don't like it.

When the blasphemers blaspheme the Name of GOD, they do not say "Y'shua", No, they say "JESUS Christ".
They know the Name of God, but you don't, and that troubles me immensely.
How can you ask God to heal you of your affliction if you don't know His Name?

Brenda said...

Paul,
These are just four of the scriptures the Lord has spoken to me in my trial:-

'Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget none of His benefits; Who pardons all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases; (Psalm 103 vs. 2 and 3)

'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' (2 Corinthians ch.12 v. 9a)

'Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding' (Proverbs ch. 3 v. 5)

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:
a time to be born, and a time to die;
a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;
a time to kill, and a time to heal; (Ecclesiastes ch 3, showing to me that everything has its' time, including my healing)

and I have to say that if this trial had not been going on all these years, then I would not have been able to be here bearing witness to His Power to heal and do miracles which I have also received through knowing Him, and encouraging others to trust in Him.

Tell me Paul, and please answer my question, who do you go to when you are sick?

Paul G said...

Yes Brenda, I know what you are saying and I also love those passages.
It trouble me when you say 'through knowing Him'.
Tell me, knowing WHO ? Who Him ?

You said, 'Tell me Paul, and please answer my question, who do you go to when you are sick? '

I am not sick, I am a very healthy man, and when I rarely get a cold or so, I always am in constant communion with my Lord, that is with the Lord JESUS Christ.
I don't go to Jesus because the Lord Jesus is always with me and in me and He never leaves me nor forsakes me.

Did Jesus not say that I am healed by His stripes ?
Did Jesus not say that He has suffered for my transgressions ?
Did Jesus not say that anything I ask, He will do for me ?

Now, if the Lord Jesus has suffered for me, then why should I suffer ?
Why should I pay for my sins again, when the Lord Jesus already has paid ?

Brenda, there are only two ways, either believe in the Lord Jesus, or DON'T believe.
Don't believe and you will suffer, believe and you will see the salvation of the Lord.
Tell me, is there anything impossible for the Lord Jesus ?
If He is able to call a dead man out from the tomb, then He certainly can heal any afflictions.

Brenda said...

Are you saying Paul that you never go to a worldly physician?

Paul G said...

No Brenda, I don't go to the doctor, If there would be anything wrong with me, I would ask my doctor, doctor Jesus.

Isn't the Lord Jesus the Master Physician ? Why would I need to go to the second best when my Father is the best.
My Father is greater than I, and anything I need, I'll ask of Him and He will do it for me because He has loved me with an everlasting love, therefore He has drawn me with bands of kindness.

Brenda said...

I go to Him too Paul,
and what I have asked of Him He is doing, He is teaching me about sickness and healing.

Paul G said...

No Brenda you don't.
You go to another Jesus (2 Cor. 11:4) who seemingly plays silly games with you.
I have told you, and I do not lie; everyone who came to Jesus was healed.
The Lord your God changes not, He is the same yesterday, today and forever.
What do you think that He will do to you if you would repent and turn to Him ?

Brenda said...

I did not ask the Lord to heal me Paul, I asked Him to teach me about sickness and healing. Just as you did not take in fully what I said when I first told you this, I think you may be doing this with scripture. As Jesus is the Word of God made flesh, it is only those who do not believe that Word who come preaching another Jesus.

Paul G said...

Brenda, I do hear what you are saying, that is because the Lord Jesus has given me an ear to hear (Rev. 2:29).

Yes I know that you did not ask MY Lord to heal you, otherwise you would be haled.

If MY Lord would have taught you about sickness and healing, then by now you would know.

Which 'JESUS' do you think that I preach?

Brenda said...

Paul,I always believed that God could keep anybody alive with any sickness whatsoever in their body, and what I have learned over all these years is complete trust in Him and the how it dispels fear.
As I have said before, I have suffered no pain until about two years ago, and I believe He is showing me (as in 'the children are for signs and portents in Israel (the spiritual Israel of God), that what is at the moment in my body represents the 'dry bones' state of the church at the moment.

Paul G said...

Brenda, you said, 'Paul,I always believed that God could keep anybody alive'.

I have been asking you the same question over and over and you never give me an answer.
Which God could keep anybody alive ?

You don't and can't give me an answer because you don't know who God is.
If you would know Him, then you could tell me His Name, and you can't tell me His Name because you don't believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Yes, so you tell me that you believe in God, but so does every devil.
Brenda, it is of no benefit to you because you refuse to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Brenda said...

I shall answer you with scripture Paul:-

'Then Moses said to God, "Behold, I am going to the sons of Israel, and I will say to them, 'The God of your fathers has sent me to you.' Now they may say to me, 'What is His name?' What shall I say to them?" God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM"; and He said, "Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, I AM has sent me to you.'" God, furthermore, said to Moses, "Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, 'The LORD, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.' This is My name forever, and this is My memorial-name to all generations.…
Exodus ch. 3 vs. 13-15.

Yes Brenda, I also can read the Scriptures.
'I am', is NOT a name, neither is 'I AM WHO I AM' a name.
Just as I have said many times before; in the Old Testament God's Name was NOT given, and NOBODY knew God's one and only Name till He (God) was born into His own creation (Matthew 1:25). That was the first time in all history when mankind knew the Name of God.
God's Name is JESUS and there is NO OTHER name given in heaven and on earth.

This God which you do not know (the ONE which you reject) Jesus Christ of Nazareth came to His own and His own received Him NOT (John 1:11).
Brenda, that's you.

Paul I think John ch. 1 v 18 explains it all. What you fail to understand is that God is Spirit, and spirit is able to dwell in a body without being physically seen. Y'shua, (Jesus in English translation) was born of that Spirit of God, becoming the firstborn of all creation, the first of many brethren.(all scriptural).

Paul G said...

Brenda, by now you have enough knowledge and information, you don't need any more.
What you need to do is REPENT !
Yes I know, nobody likes that word among those who perish, but for you it is the first step into a new life with Christ Jesus my Lord and only God.
Yes REPENT, preferably in sackcloth and ashes, mourn and weep for your sins and your rebellion towards the only true God Jesus Christ.
And then let your REPENTANCE be heard, which is CONFESSION.

Yes, heard on your blog and my blog and on anyone else's blog, in your house and your neighborhood, among your friends and on the highways and the byways etc. and the Lord Jesus Christ will be with you and lead you into all the truth.

Brenda said...

Paul,
the word repent means to re-think or to change one's mind. That is exactly what I did when I became born again of God's Holy Spirit and was able to be taught and have access to the mind of Christ.

Paul G said...

Yes Brenda that is true, but why then did you turn away from the Lord Jesus to another god called Yahweh ?
How can you worship that false god when we who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ worship Jesus (Mat. 2:11 and Mat. 14:33 and Mat. 28:9 + 17 etc. etc. ?

Tell me, do we worship the Lord Jesus in vain ? NO !
But you worship the Lord in vain and teach the doctrines and precepts of men (Matthew 15:1-9).

Brenda said...

And those in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”
To worship means to praise, honour and adore Paul and I feel all these things regarding my Lord Y'shua.

As far as teaching as doctrines the precepts of men, I would say that anyone who does not teach what the written Word of God says is teaching the precepts of men, would you agree Paul?

Paul G said...

Since you know what worship means, then why do you worship another god called Yahweh ?

The Lord Jesus said that you should only worship the Lord your God and no other (Matthew 4:10).
Who do you think that he worshiped (John 9:38) ? Yahweh ?
I think that you should believe the Scripture and in the Lord Jesus Christ and not the doctrines and precepts of men.

Brenda said...

I praise, honour and adore both God the Father (Who is Spirit) and the Son Paul.
As far as the temptation by the devil is concerned, it was the Spirit Who led Jesus into this Matthew ch. 4 v. 1), and even the tempter called Jesus the Son of God.
Jesus answered the tempter through God's written Word, which God spoke to Moses (as Moses related in Deuteronomy ch. 5), and He was telling the tempter that He would not tempt God by throwing Himself off the pinnacle of the temple.

Jesus passed the test that God led Him into, and was not tempted to go against what God had said. He did not do what Eve had done, and was not deceived by the devil.

I am not sure what you are asking regarding John ch. 9 v. 38 Paul, as that verse is speaking about the blind man worshiping Jesus (who in verse 35 calls Himself the Son of man (in some versions the Son of God).
I have already told you what I regard as 'worship' Paul, and I believe very much the Scriptures and not the doctrines and precepts of men.

Paul G said...

Yes Brenda the tempter does call Jesus the Son of God just like you, and every devil and demon calls Jesus the Son of God.

There is supposed to be a difference between you and the devils.
But as it is, the devils don't believe in the Lord Jesus just like you. They acknowledge the Lord Jesus but they don't believe in Him just like you.

John 9:38, he became a believer and worshiped the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
The Bible says that you should ONLY worship the LORD your GOD and NO OTHER.
Look, he worshiped the Lord Jesus.

Every believer is worshiping Jesus Christ, but you worship another god called Yahweh which is the devil.
Yahweh is NOT God Brenda.

Jesus Christ is the Lord God the Almighty the creator of heaven and earth and beside Him is NO other God.
Why is that so difficult for you to understand and believe ?

Brenda said...

Paul,
Why is it so difficult for you to accept what the scriptures say? I can not understand it. It is either that you are too proud to admit that the scriptures are the truth, or the doctrine in which you believe has made void the Word of God.

Here are just a few scriptures which speak about Y'shua being God's Son:-

1 Corinthians 15:28
When all things are subjected to Him, then the Son Himself also will be subjected to the One who subjected all things to Him, so that God may be all in all.

Psalm 2:7
'I will surely tell of the decree of the LORD: He said to Me, 'You are My Son, Today I have begotten You.'

Hebrews 1:5
For to which of the angels did He ever say, 'YOU ARE MY SON, TODAY I HAVE BEGOTTEN YOU'? And again, 'I WILL BE A FATHER TO HIM AND HE SHALL BE A SON TO ME'?

Matthew 3:17
and behold, a voice out of the heavens said, 'This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well-pleased.'

Matthew 17:5
While he was still speaking, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and behold, a voice out of the cloud said, 'This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well-pleased; listen to Him!'

Brenda said...

Paul, where you say ' Yes Brenda the tempter does call Jesus the Son of God just like you, and every devil and demon calls Jesus the Son of God.'

Would you say that the One Who calls Him His Son here is demon possessed?

Matthew 17:5
While he was still speaking, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and behold, a voice out of the cloud said, 'This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well-pleased; listen to Him!'

Paul G said...

Brenda, you said, 'Would you say that the One Who calls Him His Son here is demon possessed?'

Certainly NOT !
I myself call the Lord Jesus Christ the Son of God, does that make me demon possessed ?

Don't throw in a red herring in order to defuse your responsibility to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and worship Him ONLY.
You need to believe the Scriptures !
John 9:38 Did he worship Yahweh or did he worship the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth ?

Brenda said...

Paul,
I am totally lost now.

In the last but one comment you made to me you said this:-

'Yes Brenda the tempter does call Jesus the Son of God just like you, and every devil and demon calls Jesus the Son of God.'

In the last comment you made to me you said this:-

'I myself call the Lord Jesus Christ the Son of God, does that make me demon possessed ?'

If He is the Son of God, then what is your argument about Him having a Father?

Brenda said...

Also Paul,
I could say the same thing:-

'I myself call the Lord Jesus Christ the Son of God, does that make me demon possessed ?'

Brenda said...

Paul,
as I have said on your blog, I will not be continuing this discussion as I do not feel it is right. It is only the Holy Spirit that was sent to teach, convince and convict that can lead us into all truth.

Paul G said...

Yes Brenda, but what I am saying is; because someone believes that the Lord Jesus is the Son of God, that does not make him a believer in Jesus Christ, or it doesn't make him saved, or it doesn't make him a child of God, or it doesn't make him believe the truth etc.
So, what I am saying is, it means NOTHING ! everybody believes that, including the demons.

You see, believing a few statements of the Scriptures has no benefit for you, just the same as it has no benefit to the devils.
We have a whole world full of people who believe all sorts of spiritual stuff.

But you ought to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth. YES, in the Lord Jesus Christ ALONE and in NO OTHER!
You cannot believe, love and serve two masters.
Either you worship the Lord Jesus Christ just like the man born blind in John 9:38 or else you will worship the devil.

You are exactly the same as the blind man before the Lord Jesus had given him eyes to see. The blind man did not worship the Lord Jesus till after the Lord had given him eyes to see.
But you worship a god you do not know (Yahweh).
How long will it take for you to believe that ?

Paul G said...

You said, 'It is only the Holy Spirit that was sent to teach,'

Yes that is true, but it is the Lord Jesus Christ who is the Holy Spirit (2 Cor. 3:17) who came and made His abode in us.
God did NOT send another person called the Holy Spirit to teach us.

Look Brenda, the debates we are having are very important.
Yes I know that they are unpleasant and no one likes the correction and the reproof of the Lord including me, but the Lord will discipline everyone whom He receives and it is for our good.
The time is short, therefore let the light of the Lord shine into our doctrines and belief so that we will be acceptable in the day of His appearance.
