I attend a church now where we are allowed to share scripture or testimony, and I still have the same kind of experiences. So I share those experiences and what I believe they mean, as I do on the blog. I believe that as we are part of One body we are to overcome the enemy by the 'blood of the Lamb' and the word of our testimony as it says in Revelation ch. 12.
God blessBrendahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16165344093549650260noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1390138612820070904.post-74254930514779083342015-03-12T12:04:03.899-07:002015-03-12T12:04:03.899-07:00I am wondering what became of the woman who was hi...I am wondering what became of the woman who was hiding things. I think you may have misread some of my post because it was not the 'benefit cheat' that was admitting to doing something that was wrong. I don't believe that lady was a Christian, and she was the lady who had lots of money and was on benefits, she was the relative of the lady who was a Christian and who openly admitted to hiding this large sum of money in her own house so that the relative could claim benefits which she did not need.
The part which spoke of Achan was the act of keeping something which was devoted for destruction (our old carnal ways, ie:- the ones which we know are wrong in God's eyes)
God bless you and AlexBrendahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16165344093549650260noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1390138612820070904.post-63678241986657708632014-02-21T00:50:50.612-08:002014-02-21T00:50:50.612-08:00Hi Tim,

My apologies for the delay in comment...Dear Brenda,
My apologies for the delay in commenting.
Yes, I can see a similarity between Achan's sin and that of the benefit cheat, if I can call her that. But as I read your post, I also became aware of some differences between these two incidences -
In Achan's case, the motive was covetiousness. While raiding Jericho and defeating its inhabitants, Achan wanted those goods for himself to make himself wealthy and proud to own these items - a bit like owning the Crown Jewels.
In ther case of the benefit cheat, yes, I agree it was wrong and it was stealing from the State, but I felt that the ultimate motive was fear of accumilating debt, unable to pay fuel bills, or not being able to put food on the table.
In short, not having the faith to believe that God can and will supply all of her needs.
The misdeed should have been rectified but, I believe, with a level of support from the church until the recepient can sustain herself with either reduced benefit or with no benefit at all.
I know that this is easier said than done, but offering her some financial support until she is sure of herself and her faith in God's provision may not have been a bad idea.
God bless.Frank E. My reply will be brief because i'm replying from my cell and typing on these touch screen is a bit difficult for me, i tend to make typos a lot when using this. I guess it takes the precision of a surgeons hand to get it right. Anyway, lol. I loved this post. I agree sometimes i feel i'm not certain if what I'm doing is entirely wrong or not. I truly want to do anf love only the things that please the Lord, but sometimes I'm wondering, "well this doesn't seem bad, i'm not thinking or doing anything evil, but why do i feel like i am, maybe this is bad, and because i'm enjoying it i'm finding ways to tell myself it's not so bad." Afterwards i feel bad and confuse because it's written if i rember clearly enough, that whatever isn't done from faith is sin. Then i wonder about the scripture that says happy is the man that is not confemn himself in what he approves. I think that's what it says.

The part where you wrote about warning the woman about what she did wrong and then the other woman in the group told you that you shouldn't, reminds me of many experiences I've had. Whenever somebody, out of love, tries to correct somebody who is doing something we were commanded by God not to do, somebody always says, "oh, your being judgemental". But i wonder what do they think we should do, just let the person do whatever and if they stumble they stumble? Aren't we supposed to be our brothers keeper. I like this scripture "Whatever I tell you in the dark, speak in the light; and what you hear in the ear preach on the housetops." Matthew 10:27. We can't be silent when things like that happen. We should pray for boldness so that we would speak what needs to be heard with boldness and love. Great post Brenda I enjoyed it and will message it to a friend of mine for encouragement. S. Many things are being done by one person in many places and this is not scriptural. Where you say about being 'tuned in' made me smile because after I was born again I felt a completely new being that was learning God's ways through believing in Jesus, and I used to say 'Tune in to radio Jesus' to people when I spoke about Him many times.
I agree with everything you have said Patrina and I thank you for your blessings and your prayers. I love learning from the Holy Spirit and believe whole heartedly that there is nothing to be compared to learning God's ways and maturing in Christ through teaching of that Spirit. No love I ever thought I received or gave in my old life could ever compare to the love of God.
God bless you as you follow the Holy Spirit's instruction in your life and share what He brings you to share.Brendahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16165344093549650260noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1390138612820070904.post-11273389688676256352014-02-18T04:09:04.715-08:002014-02-18T04:09:04.715-08:00Hi child of God,

We can not say that when we walk into a building that the teachings there are necessarily Christian. We can gather together in a house and operate in a way that is more scriptural sometimes. All teaching has to be scripture based and I believe that is why we do not see the blessings of God, including miracles, happening today as much as they should. There are many parts to our body and, just as they all must work together, so too must the many parts of the body of Christ work together.
God bless you.Brendahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16165344093549650260noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1390138612820070904.post-28290301193896812662014-02-17T20:14:07.333-08:002014-02-17T20:14:07.333-08:00Brenda, I love how you weaved these familiar scrip...Brenda, I love how you weaved these familiar scriptures into your thot process as you related this learning experience. I was excited to see the Ezekiel ch. 33 v. 8 scripture used here. I have shared that scripture many times...with those who have never heard of it. I learned it early on from my pastor daddy. As he took that scripture very seriously. I used to think that it was a scripture just for pastors :) ministers of the Gospel...since it was spoken to the prophet by God...as a very specific responsibility of his position as a watchman. But in my adult life...and personal study of the Word coupled with my personal relationship with Christ and the work of the Holy Spirit in my life...I have come to understand...that it is indeed the Holy Spirit that leads us into all truth... in all things...& in all ways...if we are tuned into and surrendered to His counsel.

I define myself as a black and white believer of scripture. Those 'grey area believers just get all wishy-washy...watered down and luke warm.

I never want to be considered 'God spit', as daddy used to say. So luke warm that He spits me out of His mouth.

But the Holy Spirit showed me recently in a situation similar to what you described here...that I am responsible for the truth of scripture...as it is written and as the Holy Spirit downloads wisdom...understanding and revelation....and...to share it as He directs...in any way He directs.

Prophecy is simply the testimony of Jesus ...and the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives and the lives of those around us....brings that testimony to the surface...in God's appointed time.

Not everyone is called to be a watchman or a minister of the Gospel. But with the new Covenant of Jesus, we are all encouraged to prophsey through the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives....as is described in 1 Cor 14:1 "Follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy." and in vs 39 "Therefore, my brothers and sisters, be eager to prophesy,..." to edify the church and to be a witness to unbelievers.

I so agree with your witness...when you stated ..."We have a loving, longsuffering, forgiving God who understands our weakness in the flesh, but He is also a consuming fire. He has sent the Holy Spirit as our teacher to lead us into all truth,.." and further on you said..."Without the Holy Spirit actively being allowed to change us through our obedience to its teaching, we as individuals and as a church will be spiritually lifeless because we shall be still carnal, thereby being dead in our sins."

Spiritually lifeless...dead in our sins!

Your concluding belief that ..."it is a message to all of us to be alert to the teachings of the Holy Spirit, and to allow Him to work through all the members of the body in order to change us collectively into the image of God's Son. God is building His church, and unless the Lord build the house, those who build it labour in vain." was right on!

Man labors in vain...without the discernment and guidance and truth of the HOLY SPIRIT.

Powerful closing, Brenda!

"God forbid that His spiritual children should be 'killed' by a man-made mountain of worldly doctrine and church tradition that could be making the word of God void in the church."

Amen! and Amen!

carry on sister...
blessings and prayers
for your continued
physical as well as
spiritual healing
patrina <")>><Patrinas Pencilhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08103800317102189590noreply@blogger.com
