Not long after I had written my last post entitled 'Rescue remedy', I was travelling to meet my friend when two recovery vehicles passed within minutes. I immediately thought of entitling my next post 'Recovery' as I thought about the beginning of my recovery after the Lord rescued me.
The following are songs and poems that were written shortly after I became born again of God's Holy Spirit. Right from the beginning I have always felt that I could speak directly to Jesus, the One and only mediator between man and God who is now the Holy Spirit, my teacher and comforter. I hope that maybe this part of my testimony will encourage in some way those who need encouragement at this moment in their own journey to trust in Him who is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always
lives to intercede for them
Salvation road
Sometimes the going gets rough Lord
on my journey back home to You
where dangers are great and many
and places of safety seem few
Often I've felt like giving up - calling it a day
when a storm has swept across my path
or I've wandered and lost my way
But then I recall where I came from
a world filled with pain and strife
and I know I can only go forward
for You have the words of life
Yes I've taken the road to Salvation
I hear You calling me
I'm forsaking my sinful past Lord
yearning to be free
And 'though it's dark in the valleys
when I sin and You turn Your face
Lord, I know when I turn from my wickedness
then forgiveness abounds by Your grace
For as a brick must be fired seven times in a kiln
so must I be purified
for I'll only be like You my Father
when the 'self ' in me has died
So I'll go on along this road Lord
as go on I know I must
not seeing the snares and the pitfalls
but walking by faith and by trust
For Your mercy endures forever
and Your love - it covers all
and a life without You my Father
isn't any life at all
Yes Your mercy endures forever and Your love it covers all
for although You allow me to stumble ........Your hand is outstretched when I fall
New man for old
Lord when I'm being taunted and mocked for loving You
cause me to remember that You were taunted too
when I'm being laughed at for calling on Your name
let me see You standing there and taking all that shame
And if I'm being tempted to draw back into sin
tell me 'Turn away child, don't let the devil win'
Lord sometimes it's difficult to die to sinful 'man'
when the Spirit says 'You can't' and the flesh says 'Yes you can'
I'm so afraid I'll fail You, the old man can be strong
sometimes it's hard to tell Lord what's right and what is wrong
The old man says 'Retaliate!' to every harsh word said
the new says 'You've been born again, the old man is now dead'
So Lord teach me to listen when I hear You speak
create in me a spirit that is lowly and meek
take away the old man of anger, greed and lust
form a new creation inside this outer crust
Help me to forgive them, when the world abuses me
teach me how to show Your love, that I know can set them free
Lord help me go all the way to that rugged cross
show me that to lose this life is gain - and not a loss
and then just like the chrysalis that hangs upon its thread
I'll become a butterfly - and You'll have raised the dead
Touching Your hand
Touching Your hand I feel a power in me
walking Your way leads me into my destiny
all that I am is what You're making me
Your grace in my life is setting me free
You are my strength, death has no power in me
the battle is won, You are my song of victory
where there's no fear there is no enemy
Your love in my heart is setting me free
For You are the Father's precious breath of life to me
my soul feels Your love that stirs within me
with You in my life I can be all I'm meant to be
each day as You teach me Your ways
Now is the time, in You must my spirit dwell
time to break free from my shadowy prison cell
Now is the time, time for my soul to rise
time to awake and open my eyes
Kissed by Your mercy, bathed in Your tenderness
now I awake to the touch of Your sweet caress
Fear lies behind me lost in the cold of night
sweet love lies ahead in the warmth of Your light
For You are the sun that melts this cold, cold heart of mine
and You are the lamp that lights my darkness
My prayer to You Lord is that within my life You'll shine
each day as You lead me along
My walk with the Lord has been part of that beautiful relationship that we the church have with Him, becoming one with Him. There is nothing that I desire more than to remain in that relationship, and I continue to endeavour to do that with the help of the Holy Spirit.
I'll never stop loving You Jesus
I'll never stop loving You Jesus
I'll never stop praising Your name
great shepherd so faithful and true Lord
'twas for Your lost sheep that You came
I knew I had strayed in this world Lord
my eyes had been dimmed by my sin
I'd wandered about in the valleys
gone lame through the sickness within
I'll never stop thanking You Jesus
for calling me back to the fold
the wolves they had tried to devour me
I was injured and lost and so cold
Then I lifted my eyes to the mountain
as I heard Your soft voice calling me
it was then that I started to see
I'll never stop needing You Jesus
to guide me and lead me back home
to be with my Father forever
no more from Your side will I roam
The path it is narrow and lonely
and the dangers are great - this I know
but with You Lord beside me I'll make it
as You show me the right way to go
As I walk down this path to salvation
I see others turned blind and gone lame
and I tell them the Father still loves them
they'll be saved if they call on Your name
My eyes they get clearer each day Lord
as the light of Your love leads me on
every step that I take towards You Lord
makes my lame legs grow healthy and strong.
'For the Son of Man is come to seek and to save that which is lost.'

Thanks be to God for the recovery that is ours in Christ.
Hello,
yes I say Amen to that.
God bless you
Brenda; you surely are gifted in writing poems and songs to the glory of our wonderful Lord and God Jesus Christ.
Kind regards
Paul
I love how God helps us with our title's to our posts. Thank you for such a lovely poem my dear. Blessings.
Hello Paul,
thankyou for your kind comment, and there is no need to tell you that what I write, whether poem or song, has only come from knowing our lovely Lord Jesus. He is the 'me' in me praise His lovely name.
God bless you
Hi JBR,
yes it is strange isn't it, it is as if He has arranged everything isn't it, which I believe He has because every day in our lives is written in His book before even one of them was formed. I truly believe that if we try to do what He asks us to do, then we will fall into the plan that He has for each one of us.
God bless you
Thank you for then way you create with your words and thoughts.
Hi Eya,
you are very welcome. I love the diversity of everyone we connect with on the blogs, that is how it should be. We are all different with all writing different things but all are one in Christ when we are believers.
WOW! Who can read this and not be spiritually refreshed? You should consider making a Christian 2013 Calendar featuring a series of select poems from your port folio.
Blessings!
Oh Darryl,
I wouldn't know how to do that. I did register a small business making cards and poem pics with a lot of poems that were suitable for cards of various kinds, and have put together booklets with lots of writings and testimonies, but I just took them to table tops and basicaly charged for the paper they were printed on. Mostly now I give them to people that I meet. I was never sure what I should do with them, but I feel it is right that I put them on the blogs as they are part of my testimony.
Hi Brenda! Wonderfully written poems...made even more beautiful by the Truth they contain...that they point us all back to Jesus! : )
Hi Jephyr,
yes that is true, we all have the same direction don't we. Hope you are well, how do I put a smiley face on my comment?
(((Brenda))))
Hi JBR,
hope you ok,
God bless
Your blog is getting a lot of interest now, only that which you so richly deserve Brenda. To be able to continue to write such wonderful poetry that also speaks volumes about faith and Jesus as well, is a real gift. Maybe one day it will reach an even bigger audience; I hope so anyway.
Hi Tim,
Thankyou for your kind comment. I don't really think of the blog in terms of being popular, there are blogs that have thousands of 'followers', but it isn't about us having followers is it Tim'?. Poetry is just a way of expressing how a person feels and I think where Jesus is concerned it is Jesus Himself that anyone is attracted to when they read of someone's experiences of a relationship with Him. I don't think a blog about Jesus is like a commercial blog with photography etc. I hope that people are drawn together by the subject of the writing, not necessarily the writer. I think this has happened sometimes in the church, that people have been raised up instead of the Lord. There is a danger of the created being worshipped instead of the creator in some of the very large churches. I loved the way that you wrote that letter to God, I am drawn to the content of what was in that far more than the 'entertainment' of some 'stars' of christianity. I believe absolutely that we are all linked as believers and are able to identify with one another in whatever we write about. Somewhere out there, there is always a person who is going through, or has gone through, the same circumstances as others, and that is how we are able to build one another up, with what we have received from the Lord ourselves. 'And they overcame him by the blood of the lamb and the word of their testimony.' Rev.ch.12 v.11.
God bless you Tim
Hi Brenda,
Thanks for sharing these poems, they are beautiful and speak deeply to my spirit. I really liked 'New Man for Old'.
You really should compile them into a book and publish them.
Blessings sister

Hi child of God,
lovely to see you are back blogging. I think that many people can relate regarding the Christian walk. I have my own little group of booklets which I have printed out, of poems and testimonies, but I am not sure about publishing. You can pray for me if you like for direction concerning it, I would welcome that.
God bless you
Hi Brenda,
I will be praying for direction on whether or not to publish your work.
Blessings,

COG,
I think I may have had my answer today.
Hi Brenda,
Cool!!! I'm excited to hear when you are ready to share.
Blessings,

Hi child of God, (made a mistake in the first reply.)
It's just that I believe that sometimes the Lord answers me directly through scripture and I was wondering whether to put a new little booklet together, set up a project on my computer desk top publishing package, with a picture of poppies on the front page, went and picked up my Bible and opened straight to Job ch.19 and as I read a few verses in front of me I saw vs.23 and 24 'Oh that my words were written! Oh that they were inscribed in a book!'.
I have put the words 'The dead in Christ shall rise' above the poppy picture, poppies have always represented death to me and the whole thing, Job and all reminds me of my being 'dead in my sins', and my testimony of Jesus coming into my life to form me into a new creation, just as Job was seeking to know God and ended up not just hearing about Him but knowing Him for himself( My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you.) in His life. I don't know anything about publishing, but I just feel to put it together on my computer like I have done several others, I don't know what for, and I know you have been used to prompt me
Hi Brenda,
You just need to do as the Lord leads you and He will work out the details. If this is in accordance with His will then it will work out better than perfect.
I'm glad He used me to prompt you. You are a gifted writer and your discerning qualities seem to me to be spot on.
Blessings,
<><
Yes, I know He will if it is right, already changed the title.
found you through Chelle's blog. Awesome poetry.....
Hello Sarah,
nice to meet you, thankyou for your kind comment. It is the Lord who is awesome eh?
Sending more hugs your way Brenda....
Hugs and blessings to you too JBR. Keep seeking the Lord for what HE says, it is truth.
Sandra Mack (Souls Release) wanted me to tell you that she finds your poetry full of feeling and sincerity. When she becomes better acquainted with how it is done, I am quite sure that she will be leaving plenty of comments herself.
Hugs to you Brenda this Sonday.
Hi Jerry,
Tell Sandra thankyou for me. I must go over and look at more of her blog, strangely enough I noticed her website on my stats and popped over to check that it was hers. I am putting another post together so I have a bit of typing to do, but must make time to read more blogs. Who said life gets slower as you get older eh?
Hi JBR,
God bless you this Sunday too.
Hi Brenda, These lovely poems seem so mature for someone who was new to Jesus...a testimony that God's Spirit reveals the truth in our inner beings.
I thought of Psalm 51 when reading your first poem and the theme throughout this post of working at our walk and being willing to give up our old ways is a message so many need in the church today.
Thanks as always for yout visits over my way!
God Bless!
Hi Jephyr,
I firmly believe that when we receive the Holy Spirit it is as the scriptures say, we are part of the body of Christ. Sometimes when I read the scriptures, or pray, or sing about God I start to cry just thinking about our creator who has a love for His creation that I could never imagine. I believe that to a certain extent, which increases as we grow in Jesus, we begin to feel the same as Jesus Himself did with regard to God. He had one hundred percent of God's Spirit in Him and yet had fellowship with man, allowing Himself to be sacrifeced, in order to reconcile us back to God. Salvation is a lifetime of learning and I hope we all pass the test
So, my dear Brenda, are you contending that Christ Jesus was just a man--and not actually fully God, when He walked among us in the flesh before His crucifixion?
No Jerry,
far from it. He was formed in a woman's womb, but there was no insemination of man. John ch.1 v.14 states that 'The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.' That's who I say Jesus was when He walked among us in the flesh before His crucifixion, just as the scripture tells me. Verses 12 and 13 of that chapter tells me 'But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.' This tells me that when I receive Jesus I can then become a child of God, being then born of God.
Be assured that I am very glad to hear that, my dear Brenda.
