I came across some of my old diaries the other day. I picked one up, written in 2009, and noticed a book mark in it. When I opened to that specific page the writing there was about a dream I'd had, this is what was written:-
Tuesday 7th July
Had a dream this morning that I was in a church, I was praising the Lord with others. I suddenly felt the Spirit on me and with a loud groan fell to the floor. I knew there were words going to come from my mouth, but I did not know what was going to be said. Suddenly my mouth opened and I said very powerfully. 'The shutters have to come off this house, the light must come in.' I spoke these words twice, and then I was aware of being filled with light on the inside. I had my eyes closed. Then I felt this power leave me and I was just stood there in the church. Everyone had stopped praising and I was saying to people nearby ' I think they may want me to leave this church, that is what usually happens.' Penny, that I used to work with was there. Someone came and asked to borrow my guitar and went off with it. Paula was close by and talking to a woman and saying to her ' There's nothing wrong with this church, everyone speaks nicely to one another.' I felt as if Paula represented some Christians who are quite content with a church that does not want change and feels that things are ok if everyone appears happy on the surface.
I then went and asked someone if they wanted help with the dishes and tidied up a bit around the place
The dream spoke to me of how sometimes prophesy (the 'light' signifying that it is the word of God that has to come in) in a church gathering can sometimes 'shake the apple cart' a little when it speaks of correction, and be regarded sometimes as 'not from the Lord', however 'Where there is no revelation, people cast off restraint; but blessed is the one who heeds wisdom's instruction.' Proverbs ch. 29 v. 18
We have recently purchased a new bed. We had a double one in the bedroom we used and decided we would put a king-size one in another bedroom and sleep in that room, which was warmer. The first night we slept in it we realized how firm it was and found it difficult to sleep because my husband has a problem with his back and legs and for months I have had a problem with my hips and knees. Then after about six weeks, although we were slowly getting used to it, we decided we would move back into the other room with the double bed in, which had a much softer mattress. As soon as we lay on the bed we thought how much nicer and more comfortable this mattress was. However, within about an hour, the pain in my hips grew stronger and eventually so bad that I could not sleep. After a second night in the bed I told my husband I would have to go back to the firmer bed, and the next night we moved back to the other room.
As soon as I lay on the bed I realized that although it was a firm mattress the softness contained in the top special layer worked together with the firmness of the rest of the mattress to give both comfort and support. We'd had to go back to what we thought was the better bed to realize that it was not. That night we both slept more than we had slept in a long time.
The apostle Peter thought that he was doing the right thing when he tried to stop Jesus from going to the cross, he was concerned for the flesh and could not see the Spiritual benefit that would come from Jesus' suffering. However, Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.”Matthew ch. 16 v. 23. Jesus recognized the spirit that was at work in the mind of Peter was not from God, but was from Satan. So too, like Peter, can we be mindful of the things of the flesh instead of the things of God because it appears to be more comfortable. We do not tempt God. Jesus knew that going to the cross was what God had ordained Him to do, and if we know what the Lord is speaking to us then we must act on it. Our carnal mind will try to convince us not to obey if it looks uncomfortable to the flesh, but obeying the Word of God can only lead to good.
In my dream the friend that I had worked with and the friend called Paula metaphorically represented both the young and the mature Christian, and we can all be fooled by Satan into thinking more of the welfare of the flesh than the welfare of the Spirit.
I was in a town where I meet up with my friend on Friday and there was a lady promoting perfumes who was asking us to dip into a bag and pick out two samples to try. I drew out two of the same called 'ange ou demon'.
I had a strong feeling that something spiritual was being referred to here.
When I got back home I looked up the meaning of the phrase on the internet and it was 'angel or demon'. I believe the Lord is emphasising the necessity to test the spirits to see if they are from God. Are the ones prophesying encouraging us to be mindful of the things of the flesh rather than the things of God?
We are told that 'all may prophesy so that all may learn and all be encouraged' 1 Corinthians ch. 14 v. 31, and we should not judge those who prophesy by their age as even a young child may do so, as it states in Psalm ch.8 v.2a :- 'Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have ordained strength,'
If the word prophesied convinces and convicts us of sinful things in our lives and we know that we must turn from it then we must act on that word. If that word prophesied encourages us to continue walking according to the flesh and not according to the way that we know God would want us to walk, then we have to ask
'Is this an angel (messenger of God) speaking, or is this a demon(messenger of Satan) speaking.?'

What an interesting dream, Brenda! You are right, that sometimes churches want the status quo and feel uncomfortable with change or even with revival. May we be open to positive change in our walk with Him! Thanks for the great post, and welcome back to blogging!
Laurie
Hi Brenda,
It is so nice to see you back. I really enjoy what you have to say. Your prophetic dreams, day and night time, speak deeply to me.
When I read your dream I saw people covered in chains and hard crust which flew off in an explosion as the light of God's Word was shining in. God prevails and His children will speak loudly for Him in the time of need.
Sometimes what we think is good for us is not and those things that are hard and tough is the best choice. Like hard, physical work is daunting yet how it benefits our body, mind and soul in health.
Blessings hon,

Hi Laurie,
it is so strange sometimes how things from different timescales come together. It is lovely to be back blogging again although I can only write when I feel inspired to do so even though a lot has been happening. I believe absolutely that God's ways are not our ways and that if we act on what He tells us to do there is nothing to fear. His plans are for our welfare, not to harm us.
God bless you Laurie.
Hi CoG,
What you saw when you read about my dream is a perfect description of what I believe happens spiritually too when God's people allow the light of His word to shine in. That word has an unbelievable power in it and it is only by allowing it to prove itself in our lives we can experience that power. We have a wonderful Saviour who has already won our battles and a Father who tells us to be still and know that He is God.
God bless you and lovely be back interacting more.
Welcome back, Brenda!
The Bible does give us a guide of perception whether a spirit is from God or not.
No spirit from Hell would confess Jesus as the Christ, or that he came in the flesh.
God bless.
Hi Frank,
nice to see you. That is right, at least it is the Holy Spirit that gives us a perception whether a spirit is from God or not. We are told in 2 Corinthians ch. 11 vs. 14 and 15 that 'No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. Therefore it is not surprising if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness, whose end will be according to their deeds.' That is why we have to test the spirits and be, as God is, no respecter of persons. Satan told Jesus that it was alright to jump off the pinnacle of the temple because God would save Him, and He used scripture to try to convince Him, yet there is no scripture that says 'Jump off the pinnacle of the temple'. Jesus told Satan that we must not put God to the test. Likewise, it does not tell us anywhere to deliberately do something that God would tell us not to do and just keep using Him as protection.
With the Holy Spirit's teaching we shall know if the word spoken to us is from the Lord, it convinces and convicts.
God bless you and Alex.
Hi Brenda! How great to see you back here!
What an amazing dream, and that you recorded it to remember it too. Good prophesy has a timelessness to it. It is as true as when we hear, and then later too.
Comfort and support. That sounds a lot like who Jesus is. He is the place to go in all times, sadness and joy. And he supports us in our feelings, and instructs in his words too. What a wonderful message found in your mattress experience!
God is truly communicating with you. How blessed that your ears and eyes are open.
Blessings,
Ceil
Hi Ceil,
It is lovely to be back blogging, although I can only write when I am inspired to do so. I have been looking through a lot of old writings and going out into the street with my friend and our leaflets every week now so life is very busy. I seem to be having a lot of dreams and things that go together with them lately. I have had another two the last couple of nights and I think I know what they are meaning. I love the way that God speaks to us in all different ways and it is always good to share our experiences.
God bless you Ceil, lovely to hear from you.
Hi Brenda ...I was one of the ladies you spoke to at Swansea on Friday we told you that we had started a meeting at the Community Center and felt like giving up as after weeks and weeks no one has come you gave us some litetature can you imagine my surprise when I noticed your blog as our meetings are called The Lighthouse we made posters to advertise these meetings weeks ago with The Lighthouse logo ....not a coincidence xxx
Hi, how lovely to hear from you. I don't know your name, but you are so right - this is not a coincidence. I had a vision years ago in Australia, I wrote a post on it some time back. If you want to read it you will find it at http://lighthousevision.blogspot.co.uk/2010/11/reason-for-my-blog-name.html
Just copy and paste it in.
My friend Paula who was with me in Swansea and myself believed that the Lord wanted us to have a café called the Lighthouse, if it is meant to be it will happen. Do not give up, we will pray for you and please pray for us. It was lovely meeting you and hope to meet you again. We go to Swansea every Friday if we can.
God bless and love to you all.xxx
Hi Brenda,
Yes, you are so right that we must follow God's leading in all things. His timing and plan are always perfect, even when we don't understand them. May God bless you, your ministry, and family.
Love in Him,
Laurie
Hi Laurie,
always lovely to hear from you. I feel that blogging is like a church gathering on line with my brothers and sisters in Christ. Yes, there have been many times when my carnal mind has not understood God's leading and Yet His word has proved itself true so many times in my life if I have remained still and known that He is Lord, and is usually accompanied by signs. He understands that we are flesh and is very patient with us.
God bless you Laurie, and your family and ministry too.
I love what your are writing. Thanks
Hi Ariella,
lovely to meet you, I have just visited your blogs and have enjoyed reading both.
God bless you
Good thoughtful post!
I have learned a "Good thing" in the church is not always a "God Thing" -- we do works that the Lord has not birthed -- and miss the mark of true fellowship too often because we are so busy doing the self-created good works and not hearing him.
Isaiah 61:1
The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners,
Satan's deceptions are rampant in the church today -- we need the pure Holy Light to shine in our hearts and bring discernment for we live in an age where the world calls evil good and good evil. (like the hard mattress being best for you the picking up our cross daily is tough but best).

Hi 'Stuff' (I feel awful calling you that but I don't know your name}. I agree with every word you have said in your comment. Where you say 'we miss the mark' that is exactly what 'sin' is - The Hebrew word chatta’ (khat-taw) basically means criminal or one who is found guilty and comes from the root word chata’ (khaw-taw) where we find the word the english word “sin” – or one who has missed the mark. I was shown this a long time ago through a series of incidents in my life. There are many hidden things in the scriptures. I find it fascinating that when the Hebrew word for 'evil' is read backwards then it becomes 'awaken'. When the English word 'evil' is read backwards it becomes 'live'.
God bless you.
Great to see you shared another wonderful blog post with us with a very edifying message. I haven't been on here for quite sometime, but it's great that the first blog I read is yours. Your post are always so timely, I sometimes feel as if the message you present is just for me.
How lovely to see you Sateigdra,
I was only thinking about you yesterday and wondering how you are. I really believe that the church is the people, not the building. We are all one no matter where we are, and the things we experience are similar and link together. I hope you will continue to write on your blog and share how you feel because no matter what we go through there are others who are going through similar experiences and we are able to encourage and build one another up with our testimonies.
God bless you Sateigdra
What has happened in your church since you had this dream?
The word 'content' caught my eye. Sometimes that's a good thing, but sometimes it holds us back.
Glad I found your blog!
Hi Sandi, nice to meet you.
That dream was a few years ago, I am in another place now. I have always gone wherever I believe the Lord leads me, and believe the church is all of those who believe in Christ, not a building or denomination. Where two or three are gathered in Jesus name, there He is in the midst of them. You are right about the word content, I like the word 'peace' when it comes to knowing whether we are right with the Lord or not.
God bless
Amen, Brenda! We must always follow His perfect timing. Sometimes it is difficult to "wait upon the Lord," but if we rush ahead without waiting for His clear direction, we will miss out on His best for us. May God continue to use you richly in sharing His Word and encouraging others. God bless,
Laurie
You are exactly right Laurie in saying that if we rush ahead without waiting for His clear direction, we will miss out on His best for us. Sometimes I am so amazed at how things link together. This week I bought dandelion tea, simply because I love herb teas and I had never tried the dandelion one before. Today a new visitor came over to my blog and her lovely scripture filled blog is called 'Dandelion tea'. How amazing is that?
God bless you Laurie.
How are you now, Brenda? Thanks for all your wise comments on my blog!
Hi Ariella,
I am fine thank you, going through a trial but trusting the Lord. Your post on your blog was lovely. I am always late in reading other blogs as my life seems to be getting busier as I get older, but I love reading what other people have written, and their experiences.
God bless.
So true, Brenda, how God speaks to us in mysterious ways, linking together the most unlikely things in ways that make sense only to us, in very specific ways! There are no coincidences with God.
Many blessings to you and your ministry,
Laurie
I love the way that we are each special individuals to our Heavenly Father Laurie, as He teaches us His ways, and the fact that He is omnipresent. Who is like unto Him eh?
God bless you, your family and your ministry Laurie.
Amen, Brenda! Last night, as we drove to a dance competition where we presented our dance ministry, I felt that God was speaking through beautiful patterns of clouds against the full moon -- first a 3-lobed design for the Trinity, then a cross and then an angel. God bless you also,
Laurie
