How do we think?

A few nights ago I had a dream in which I was trying to speak to a very important person on the phone but could not get connected. This brought me to think of how we, as believers, connect with God. Do we connect with Him through the carnal mind or the mind of Christ as spoken of in 1 Corinthians ch. 2 v.16:-
'For who has known the mind of the LORD, that he may instruct Him? But we have the MIND OF CHRIST.' This is saying that when we have been born again of the Holy Spirit and  are spiritually  part of the body of Christ on earth, as stated in 1 Corinthians vs. 12 and 13 ( For in one Spirit we were all baptised into one body, whether Jews, or Greeks , slave or free, and we were all given one Spirit to drink...) then we  have the mind of Christ.

Isaiah ch. 55 vs. 8 and 9 clearly states that Gods thoughts and ways are totally different to mankind's thoughts and ways :- 'For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways' declares the LORD.
Do we argue with that Word?
Job ch. 40 v.2 states:-

' Shall he that contends with the Almighty instruct Him? he that reproves God, let him answer it.'

This is how Paul the Apostle spoke to believers in Ephesians ch. 4 vs 22-24 regarding how they should be in Christ:-

'You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires, to be made new in the attitude of your minds, and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.'

Jesus' Words to us, enlightened by the Holy Spirit,  are what enable us to work out our salvation, and just as He did, we too can learn obedience through the things we suffer, trials strengthening us as we journey on.  Hebrews ch. 5 vs. 8 and 9 state:- 'though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered. And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him,'  and I see through this that to 'obey' Him means to 'act' on the Word spoken to us as believers, and not just be 'hearers' of that Word.

Recently, the cover on my mobile phone broke and I needed to buy a new one. I do not buy on line and asked my daughter in law if she would order one for me. She went through several of them for me, asking which one I would like, many with butterflies on which I said would be the right one but which were out of stock.  She came to one with a picture of a lion on it and asked me would I like it. I said 'I love lions' , so she ordered it for me. She said 'What will you call the lion?' I started thinking about this and suddenly she said to me 'Did you say 'Judah'? I said to her that I had not said a word. She could not believe it, and said she literally had goose bumps on her arms.

Isaiah ch. 61 v.10 reads:-
I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God. For He has clothed me with garments of salvation and ARRAYED ME in a robe of HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS.'
1 Corinthians ch. 1 v.30 reads:-

'It is because of Him that you are in Christ Jesus, Who has BECOME for us wisdom from God: our RIGHTEOUSNESS, holiness and redemption....'
If the scriptures say that He has become our righteousness, and also that God has arrayed me in a robe of righteousness, I believe absolutely that what happened with my daughter in law regarding my phone cover is a sign from the Lord accompanying His Word.

What I have on my mobile screen is a picture of a sea and the words 'Walk on water', signifying that I must keep my eyes focused on the Lord, and not on the tribulations in my life.  Now that there will be a lion covering on that statement it speaks Spiritually to me that as long as I keep my eyes upon the Lord, Who is the Word of God, then I shall be covered by His righteousness.

I end this post with a section of 2 Corinthians ch. 10 v.5  that has greatly encouraged me to change my way of thinking.

'.......bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ'

JUDAH.

Powerful! I find it remarkable that she heard it when you had not said it. I think I know who did! :)

"I must keep my eyes focused on the Lord, and not on the tribulations in my life."

Amen.

P.S. My pastor's youngest son is named Judah. Isn't that a great name?

Hi Sandi, I believe I know who said it too, how could she here that name spoken in a silent room? and it was not coincidence that the other phone covers were sold out. I was meant to have that one.

Brenda said...

Yes, that certainly is a great name.

Hi Brenda,

It is wonderful to keep reminders of God's presence and promises all around us. I live your screen photo and lion covering -- how appropriate! Your daughter-in-law naming the Name of Judah is a blessed confirmation.
Thank you for this lovely post and for all you do to glorify His Name./ May God bless you richly,
Laurie

Wonderful post, Brenda. I love all the scripture you shared and was very moved at how you knit it all together. Thank you for sharing all that God put on your heart and mind.

The story about the phone case is so beautiful. Just today I watched a video from a man who shared a vision God gave him about "God's Lion Army." https://youtu.be/K_1WSvAAI9w It may speak to you too—as it seems God is stirring His Lion Army to action in the last days.

Thank you for sharing your gift and God's Word and Heart! God Bless!

I need to make a correction: The video regarding the "vision" is about THE LION'S Army. (Revelation 5:5 Then one of the elders said to me, Stop weeping! Look, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the root of David, has conquered; thus he can open the scroll and its seven seals. I'm watching a different video presentation on it now.

Hi Laurie, all glory to our wonderful Father and his Son, our saviour. It is only the enlightening of the Holy Spirit and the amazing signs that I have experienced that enable me to put up these posts. I love the Lord and know that He can bring me through all my trials if I put my trust in Him.
God bless you and your encouraging blog Laurie.

Hi Jephyr,
how amazing that you have put up a video about the Lion's Army, and that you have shared that scripture regarding the Lion f the trive of Judah. I have to watch it, and believe that you have led me to this - nothing is coincidence Jephyr.
God bless you Jephyr, as you soldier on in the LION'S ARMY.

Just looked at the video that you watched, it was amazingly timed for me to watch wasn't it, and very encouraging.

I'm so happy to hear it spoke to you too, Brenda. Sometimes I feel so discouraged by all the evil running rampant in our world. But to think about things in light of the spiritual battle being fought by our God—that we can join through prayer and testimony—is so very powerful, comforting, and encouraging. I'm so glad to be enlisted with you in the Lion's Army my warrior sister!

Thank You Jephyr for your very kind comment,
I am so glad to be in the Lion's Army with you and all other brothers and sisters in the Lord too. I am aware that I am still having to grow spiritually in the Lord, the enemy can be very strong in trying to convince us what is 'right' and what is 'wrong' in God's eyes, but there is only One winner Who wants all to be saved, and He has sent the Holy Spirit to lead us into all truth. God bless you my warrior brother.

Always a good read when I come to your blog!
Bless you -- Brenda!

"Then one of the elders said to me, "Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals." Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders. The Lamb had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth."
Revelation 5:5-6

Love this song about the LION of Judah!
Hope you enjoy it.

On 11/03/2019 I also did my blog (MANUFACTURER'S HANDBOOK) on this very same topic!

Hi there, I don't know your name, but I believe you are a chaplain. My friend and I used to be prison visitors on a lifers wing and there was a lovely time chaplain there who used to come out into the streets with us and hand out Christian leaflets. Thank you for your kind comment and encouraging scriptures. God bless you too.

Hi again, I looked up your blog post on the lion of Judah, very interesting. I also listened to the YouTube song, which was nice. We sing a song in the church gathering I attend, it includes the lion of Judah but is a different one to the one on YouTube. That is lovely too. God bless you.

Hey Brenda, it is amazing how, more than a few times, our blog entries match up. I was just reading about an Oxford Study of where our consciousness lies. It lies within the quantum gravity zone of our minds. It's an interdimensional communication zone. As we know, our consciousness continues to live on, beyond this reality. I have no problem believing that our conscious minds can link up with others, such as how it did between you and your daughter in law. I believe that the closer we grow towards God, the veil disappears between our reality and his, disappears. Cool Stuff!!! Shalom!!

Brenda said...

Hi Keith,
Yes, I believe that our consciousness is separate from our body, and have had proof of this in my near death experience and also many other experiences. I also believe that we have access to many things but we can not experience some of them while the knowledge of evil (the opposite to God's ways) remains in our mind. Salvation is a learning process, and the more we focus on God's Word revealed to us as we seek His truth in the Lord, the more we grow into His Spiritual image.

Brenda said...

I agree also, Keith, it is the veil being removed.

Totally agree, Brenda.!!! We cannot fathom how powerful we can be in God’s Spirit, if only we faithfully tap in to his power for healing, prophesying, teaching, etc. oh what a great day that will be when we become Truly spiritually Echad with God through the Messiah, Y’shua.

Beautiful post Brenda. I have had many “coincidences “ happen in my life where Jesus spoke to me. Looking back on these I sometimes think “did that really happen?” (Perhaps the enemy like he did to Eve: “Did God REALLY say....?” but I know He is real and what He has done and continues to do is very real, and we are very blessed to have the Lion of the tribe of Judah protecting and guiding us. ❤️

Hi Brenda,
You are right, it is only through the Holy Spirit, Who teaches us and shows us Truth, that we can write and speak the truth to encourage, uplift and edify one another. Thank you for continuing to do this on your lovely blog.
God bless you,
Laurie

I found your story about the lion phone cover and Judah inspiring, Brenda. I can't begin to imagine the thoughts of God.

Brenda said...

Hi Susan,
lovely to hear that you have experienced God given experiences too. I don't know if I have ever shared this with you, but when my friend and I were prison visitors on a lifer's wing in Cardiff prison a man there wanted us to go and visit his adoptive mother and share the gospel. He gave us directions to her house. When we came out from the prison we were a bit cautious about going to her house as we were quite young believers, so we turned to the road to go home instead. All of a sudden, about half a mile down the road, we were actually transported from that road to another road. I gasped 'What the heck..'and pulled into the curb. Right opposite, on the corner of a forked road, was a mansion type house in large, triangle shaped grounds. Next to the gate was a plaque with the name of the house the man had given us. We could not believe it, and because of the sheer miraculous experience we found ourselves afraid to go in, and left for home. If there had not been two of us in the car I would not have been believed when I shared this miraculous incident. We deeply regretted not responding to God's supernatural (scripture confirmed) action later, and continued to have, and respond to, what we came to know were God given experiences.

Brenda said...

Hi Laurie,
thank you for your kind comment. It is true, the ways of God and His thoughts can only be achieved through the teaching of the Holy Spirit, and I always endeavour to use the scriptures as my plum line.

Brenda said...

Hi Louise,
the thoughts and ways of God are totally different to ours, and I am learning more and more that all things are possible with Him. If we seek, we will find, and I love seeking His truths through the scriptures and know that there is more than this world available to us.

I haven’t often shared the most supernatural of things that have happened to me because I tend to think people would not believe it and think I was making it all up, I have shared a few of them on Facebook comments if I truly feel the Lord giving me the nudge to do so, but mostly I think the Lord did them to strengthen my faith, and was mainly meant for private instruction and growth...that is truly amazing what happened with that prisoner, but I also believe that the enemy also has “magic powers “ and if you got a creepy vibe it might have been the Lord warning you against going there. I know He still would protect us, but we should still heed His warnings also. Thank you for your sweet comment on my blog. Still can only comment here (really strange that I can and only here!! Not even able to comment on my own blogs) I will let you know if and when I get a new profile. I’ll leave the old blogs too.

Brenda said...

Hi Susan, I think the reason we could not go into the house was really because we found the transportation from one road to another so supernatural, even though there is scriptural evidence of it happening. We had a journey of about twenty five miles back to our home town and the further we went from that house the more guilty we felt for not going in to see the man's mother. We really believed it had been set up by the Lord.

Susan said...

Hi Brenda, understood, 😊 I had a somewhat similar thing happen when I was a young Christian in the Lord...sort of. I was driving to work taking Topanga Canyon blvd thru Topanga Canyon in California. It is a two lane road (one lane each direction) and I caught up to a guy that I knew from a previous encounter to be a very outspoken and evil atheist. He was driving a very old beat up car and only driving at about 20-25mph on a road that was 35-40mph limit. He pulled to the side to let me pass. About 5-10 minutes later at the end of the road at Pacific Coast Hwy, I pulled up behind him, same man, same junky dilapidated car. How did he pass me without me seeing him? Impossible! Yet there he was. And definitely creepy vibes!! I’m not convinced that the Lord wanted you to go there even though something supernatural happened, and maybe He did, but He isn’t limited by our shortcomings, so if He wanted something to be said to her I’m sure it got done. 👍🏼

Brenda said...

Hi Susan again,
I think He was teaching us not to fear the situations He brings us into, one thing we were a bit cautious of is that this was obviously a wealthy family - we were just everyday people. We started to learn after that though that God can use the foolish things to confound the wise, and not to be afraid of what He leads us into.

Laurie Collett said...

Hi Brenda,
Praise God that His Word is a mirror, showing us where we fall short, and encouraging us to follow Him more closely. God bless you,
Laurie

Brenda said...

Hi Laurie,
absolutely, a good analogy. I love learning from that Word, and the more we act upon it the less the power of the enemy has over us.
Go bless you Laurie.

I reread your post again...isn’t it wonderful that you can read something several times and each time something different stands out? Reading it this time what stood out to me was your comment at the beginning of how we connect to the Saviour. We can talk with Him anytime we like, the Creator of the entire Universe!!! That never stops being amazing. Also love the photo on your phone of walking on the water to remind of keeping our eyes on Jesus. When we focus on our surroundings rather than on Jesus, that’s when we start sinking! Great reminders. Also thank you for visiting my little blog...I haven’t decided yet what to do with it...maybe the beginning of next year I shall park that one and begin a new one. ❤️😊

Hi Susan,
regarding your blog, there is a time for everything and I love how God works all things together in our lives for good. We just have to learn daily, through that living Word, what is 'good' in God's eyes. He is a beautiful Father Who speaks to us through a wonderful Saviour and mediator. I played chess years ago and I see God as the Master chess player Who uses the chess pieces (the body of Christ on earth) to win the game of everlasting life for all who believe.
God bless you in the Lord Susan.

Brenda said...

Hi Laurie,
absolutely agree that the sword of the Lord, the living Word, is the best weapon against the spiritual enemy. There is only One winner, the battle has already been won.

Hi Brenda, I love this time of year. I hope and pray for a very blessed remembrance as we ponder our Saviour’s birth for you and your family as well. I realize that for many people this is the only time of year people will even crack open the door to Jesus a tiny bit. I pray we use the time wisely as the Lord guides us in His wisdom ❤️ and thank you for your visit to my blog and well wishes as well.

Hi Susan,
It is good to spend this time of year celebrating out Saviour Jesus, and being with our family and friends. However, I love every day of my life spent with Him. There are many people who want to know about Jesus all through the year, but would not go into a 'church building', as my friend and myself found when the Lord sent us out to evangelise for over thirty years in Wales. Have a blessed time with your loved ones this Christmas doing what you love doing.
