A Place of Peace

There is a Welsh word  'Heddfan', pronounced 'hethvan' which means 'a place of peace'. When we lived in West Wales I always wanted to call our bungalow Heddfan but never did.  Yesterday I noticed on my desk in my workroom a piece of paper with this word on it that I must have written years ago, and as I have been trying to sort out all the paperwork in my room I must have left it there.  Also on my desk, on the other side of my computer, was a stack of leaflets that I put together with scripture and poetry I had written that I used to hand out in the streets of Wales near where we lived for about thirty years with my friend.
One caught my eye which I feel I would like to share in this post.
On the front of this leaflet were the words:-

                                     There's nothing
                            you can do

                                  to make God
                              bless you

                                        It's already
                                         been done

For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life
John ch.3 v.16.

These are the words and my poem that I put inside the leaflet:-

He is the image of the invisible God, the first born of all creation, for in Him all things were created, in Heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities, or authorities - all things were created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. He is the head of the body, the church, He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything He might be pre-eminent. For in Him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through Him to reconcile to Himself all things, whether on earth or in Heaven, making peace by the blood of His cross.                     Colossions ch.1 vs.15-20

  Love lies bleeding

Love lies bleeding on a hill alone and far away
for the blood of Christ shed on that cross
is still poured out today
To God there is no passing time, only a way to be
this the reason Jesus came - to save both you and me
And if you say 'We're not in chains, why need we be set free?'
just look around this present world and tell me what you see
Do you see greed enticing man to murder, rob and cheat
while anger, lust and envy are roaming every street
and where a soul lies crying, alone and in despair
do you turn away while saying 'Doesn't anybody care?'
Strong chains of sin and selfishness are now binding all mankind
and only God's great sacrifice can bring you peace of mind
Yes love lies bleeding on a hill, yet not so far away
for the love of Jesus....... flowing still
is just a prayer away

But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the law and the prophets bear witness to it, the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction, since all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, they are justified by His grace as a gift, through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as an expiation by His blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God's righteousness, because in His divine forbearance He had passed over former sins, it was to prove at the present time that He Himself is righteous and that He justifies him who has faith in Jesus.
Romans ch. 3 vs. 21-26

There is no greater peace that we could have than being in Jesus our Lord.

Brenda, when you said Wales you reminded me of something. I may have asked you this a while back. I think I did. Are you familiar with a town in Wales called Llanelli? Than-eth-lee is how it is pronounced, if memory serves. I was part of a ministry there many moons ago. They had their headquarters there and I was part of team for about four months in late 1996.

By the way, I can see the posts on your sidebar. I don't see mine that I posted this morning. It is Yellow Flowers.

Blessings

The blogs show up high on the page.

Hi Sandi, yours and the whole lot of the blogs that I follow are way down on my side bar, right down to where I put a pot up on the 19th December 2019.I am going to have to find out how to do this. It is very difficult at the moment to get help while the virus is causing a lock down.

Hi Sandi, yes you did tell me that. We actually lived in a place in West Wales called.. d Llandybie. The double L in the Welsh language is not pronounced the same as th. You have to put the tip of your tongue on the roof of your mouth, put your lower teeth behind your upper teeth and blow air out then.:-)

Dear Brenda,
With Easter approaching, it's good to be reminded of Jesus Christ and his death by Crucifixion, his Burial, and his Resurrection from the dead three days later. In such difficult times as this, a national cry to God, I think, is needed.
As you say in your poem, God is only a prayer away.
God bless.

Hi Frank, I couldn't agree with you more regarding what this time of year should be about. I hope that through our blogs we can all encourage those who do not know our Lord, those who look at the blogs but do not comment, will come to know Him. As our God loves all, He knows the exact way to reach all.
God bless you and Alex with all that He has to bless us with, including healing and miracles.

Frank,
I just left a very long comment on your blog and for some reason it has not come up. I will have to try to find out what the problem is as I have been having some trouble with my sidebar.

Hello Brenda, Sandi and Frank.
Firstly, thank you Brenda for sharing this interesting bit of your life, very interesting and encouraging. The pamphlet is very true, it is already done. and yes, love is still lying on the ground bleeding, it has for thousands of years but love will always overcome with the assistance of God's only Son.
Sandi, You are talking about side-bars and blogs showing up high on the page, I have ni idea what you are talking about but the explanation Brenda gives for the facial contortions you need to go through in order to pronounce those Welsh words sounds hilarious, good luck.
Blessings from Geoff in South Africa.

Hi Brenda,
Praise God, that in all things He has the pre-eminence. What wonderful encouragement you shared in verse and Scripture, not only with your blog readers, but with those to whom you gave the pamphlets. What a joy it will be for you to meet them in glory and learn how you touched their lives!
God bless you,
Laurie

Hi Laurie,
we absolutely loved going out with our leaflets, and found many people, hundreds, who would not go into a church building but wanted to know about God and Jesus. I was so glad when the Lord enabled me to set up a blog and meet other Christians, you included Laurie, who share the same beliefs. That is how the enemy is overcome - by the blood of the Lamb and the Word of our testimony.
God bless you Laurie, and your family.

Hi Brenda,

The leaflet you handed out is lovely. Your poem is beautiful and the scripture verses are perfect for it. Isn't it wonderful when God directs and empowers our talent and work!

There's a group called Last Reformation Ministries — a "street" ministry — and they find what you did — that people who won't go in a church are still hungry for the truth of Jesus!

I see you commented on God's Big Show and will reply there asap.

God Bless you!

Brenda These scriptures and your poem are just perfect at a time such as this.Thank you so much for writing this, my friend.
My prayers are for you and your family to remain Psalm 91 safe this week and throughout.

Hi Jephyr
That is lovely regarding Last Reformation Ministries, they too are part of the body of Christ on earth. I love the way that God reaches all through Jesus whether in a building or in the streets. Please do not worry about answering comments, that is not what is important, and I know how busy you are with your artwork and your Christian blog. God bless you.

Hi Lisa,
it is so lovely to see you, and I love the fact that you have prayed that me and my family will remain Psalm 91 safe. May we all remain Psalm 91 safe, as:-
1'Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”
God bless you and your family Lisa, time and distance does not separate us when we have the Word of God (Jesus) in our lives.

Hello Wise Hearted,
Thank you for your kind comment,it is nice to meet you. That is exactly what the scriptures are isn't it - the truth. I would be so lost without our beautiful Lord. God bless you.

Hi, Brenda!
I love the book of Colossians and can't help realizing how the peace in that Colossians verse speaks of 'Heddfan' and how you bask in it for your dwelling place. Thank you for visiting me!

Happy Easter,
Mary

You too Victor. God bless.

Amen, Brenda -- it is a blessing to know you and others who honor God and His Word in their writings, even though we have never met in person. If the Lord comes again soon, it won't be long before we meet on that beautiful shore! God bless you.

Brenda said...

Laurie, I know that you too know that there is no higher blessing than to know one another in the body of Christ. We have not seen Jesus in the flesh, but to have Him in our lives in the Spirit through His precious Word is the best that could happen to us while we are on this earth. It is a gift from God that we do not see with our eyes, but is One that joins us as family regardless of time and distance, and which extends into eternal life. God bless you my lovely sister in the Lord.

A lovely post, Brenda, full of comfort and promise. 💖

Brenda said...

Hi Louise,
thank you for visiting. What you have said regarding the post being full of comfort and promise, that is exactly what the Lord has been in my life - comfort and promise. God bless you with all He has for us in Jesus.

Blessings are all around.

All you have to do is grab one.

Brenda said...

Hi Keith,
yes, physical blessings are available everywhere, but Spiritual blessings and eternal life - the greatest blessing from God - can only be accessed through Jesus, the One mediator between God and man.
God bless.

Amen Brenda, and love reading all the wonderful comments too! This morning I felt very disturbed upon waking up, and cried out to Jesus “please help me” and now I read your wonderful words that He has already done it all (He had said “it is finished”) and it penetrated deep into my soul with reassurance. Thank you for being faithful to share Hus wonderful words of life and peace.❤️ I pray for you and your loved ones especially during this strange time of “social distancing “

Brenda said...

Hi Susan,
I find the more I pray and speak to the Lord, reading His Word every day, the more I feel He is with me. Any fear comes from the enemy. God sent His beautiful Son not only to give us eternal life, but also to bring us through all the trials in this world. Who would want more than that, and my near death experience will always remind me of the beauty and love that lies ahead for us who believe in our Lord. We are here to encourage one another.
God bless you Susan
