Fear or Trust?

Do we fear when trials come upon us, and if we do - what does our fear achieve?
There are two scriptures that come to mind when I am going through a trial in the Lord:-
One is 'Job ch. 3 v.25  where Job said  'For what I fear comes upon me'.
The other is Proverbs ch. 3 v.5:- 'Trust in the Lord with all your heart and don't lean on your own understanding'
So do we allow that fear to cause us to not trust in the Word of God spoken to us, and hinder  us from believing and receiving?

Where does the 'fear' come from ? It comes from the spiritual enemy who tries to rob us of what God has in store for us by putting negative thoughts into our carnal minds when not everything goes how we want it to go, but takes a turn for what we would call 'the worse'.
However, there are positive thoughts  that we have access to through the mind of Christ - the Word of God that will combat those negative thoughts if we take them captive and bring them into obedience to that Word.   The trials that we go through are there for a reason. James ch. 1 vs. 2 and 3 reads:- 'Consider it pure joy my brothers and sisters whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.' This is an ongoing message to all who are part of  the body of Christ on earth - the church.   Fear is the negative - Faith is the positive, the substance of things hoped for.

I share two small poems that I wrote years ago that I would hope encourage those who might be finding it very hard to endure their trials in the Lord.

To be just like Jesus

'Oh for an easy life' they say

'where nothing ever goes wrong'
That's what the world cries out for
but Lord it's not my song
For how would I ever learn patience
without tribulation and trial
or how could I ever endure hard times
yet still be able to smile
But I say 'Oh to be just like Jesus
to be like the One raised from the dead'
So I'll glory in my afflictions
while the power of God rests on my head

Do not worry, do not fear

Do not worry - do not fear

let your hearts be still
for who alone of mortal man
can always know God's will
But this we know - who worship Him
by faith shall live the just
for then we see the power of
the One in Whom we trust

Amen. Very encouraging. There is a song that says, "There's no thief like fear."

Jason Gray is the singer.

Hi Sandi,
how lovely, that song would have a massive'AMEN' from me. It sounds like Jason Gray could be a believer.
God bless you with all He has for us in Jesus.

Dear Brenda,
It's during this present Coronavirus pandemic which can be the object of so much fear, worry, anxiety, the feeling of uncertainty for the future.
But through it, both my wife and I have learned not to lean on our own understanding but to keep on trusting God with our present and future lives.
After all, from eternity past, God had already known exactly when this pandemic will arrive and who will be affected by it.
May God protect and bless you.

Hi Frank,
that is very true, God alone knows even why things happen, and I believe that if this had now happened then there could have been even worse things could have happened. Many countries are in danger of going to war and hatred is escalating and I believe that this pandemic may be hindering this. I also think we are in the end times, close to the Lord coming back, as all these things that are happening are prophesied in the Bible.
God bless you and Alex and keep you both safe in Him.

Yes, he is a Christian singer. The songnis on youtube if you want to hear it.

"...this had now happened then there could have been even worse things could have happened." I saw this in a comment above. That is an encouraging perspective and it makes me think of a parent sending squabbling kids to their rooms...

Hi Sandi, I will go onto YouTube to listen to the song. I meant to say 'if this had not happened,' not now happened, and what you say regarding a parent sending squabbling kids to their rooms is a perfect analogy for it.

Hi Brenda,
Such an encouraging post and poems! Praise God that His perfect love casts out all fear! These are fearful times, but we are to be anxious for nothing, and with prayer and thanksgiving make all our requests known.
God bless you and your ministry,
Laurie

Hi Laurie,
the more we trust in our Lovely Lord, the Word of God, the more the fear of the enemy through his negative words in our carnal minds disappears. The Word of our Father becomes a new language to us through the mind of Christ - as you have spoken in your comment.
God bless you and yours Laurie, and with what He has given you to share.

Increased fear outweighs faith. Vice versa. Great reminder sister Brenda to always trust in the Lord no matter what circumstances are going around us. It's different to have His gift of joy than just be happy. There is certainly a sense of unfathomable peace with the kind of joy that comes from Him. Blessings to you. Stay strong in the Lord's mighty power!

Hi RCUBE, absolutely true,
trials can be hard but the more we trust, and look back and see how the Lord has brought us through them, the more we have a peace that passes understanding - that is the 'understanding' of the carnal mind. God bless, and you too stay strong in His mighty power.

Hi Brenda.
Nice poem. I'm not quite sure what you are worrying about or afraid of, I had many things I was afraid of in my past life, but since I have recently worked out what I really am has brought all of that to an end.
You are a child of God, you have come from the Light and you will return there. If you have been anointed by the Holy Spirit, which you asked to be, then you are connected directly to God Almighty and to His Son, our Messiah by that Holy Spirit.
Ask Jesus to open your eyes to enable you to see who you really are with regards the Kingdom of God.
Bless you girl. This I ask of Jesus our Rescuer and Lord.

Hi Geoff, no I am not worrying about or fearing anything. What I have done in this post is shared my experiences from my earlier times in the Lord. Just as we grow in the physical, so we grow in the spiritual. I have loved my experiences in the Lord, and because I have experienced supernatural things in my walk with Him, even my friend and myself being transported from one road to another after visiting on a lifers' wing in a prison, I know that God can do all things. God bless you Geoff.

Hi Geoff, just to add, I agree with you that we are a Spirit trapped in a physical body, but I also believe we have a purpose on this earth and are to spread the gospel, we are not here just for ourselves. We are to learn God's ways and learn the difference between good and evil in God's eyes. As we grow in Him through the teaching of the Holy Spirit we are able to overcome the enemy by the blood of the Lamb and the Word of our testimony. However, we are also able to encourage others through that testimony.

Hi Brenda,
I agree with your last comment to Geoff, that He saved us to share His Word with others. His children alone are blessed to have that privilege -- even the angels do not evangelize. If He had not saved us to good works, namely sharing the Gospel, He would have immediately taken us home once we were saved.
God bless you and your ministry,
Laurie

Hi Laurie,
I believe that too, and that is why I believe I was told that it was not my time yet and that I had to come back when I had my near death experience. I know that the poems and songs that just dropped into my head were not my doing - they were given to me by the Lord to put together in leaflets and sing in the streets - which I loved doing. We have a wonderful Father, God, Who sent His Son Jesus to earth to reconcile us back to Him. God bless you and your ministry too Laurie.
