Rapture

I feel led to re-post something I posted some time ago.

Some time ago I had a dream in which I was looking at certain stars in the sky.  As i looked at them they appeared to grow in explosive glory, yet were not destroyed.  It was absolutely beautiful.  My husband was stood nearby and I asked him to look at the stars, but when he looked nothing happened, the stars remained normal.  then some other people came along who were unbelievers, and I asked them to look at the same stars.  Again nothing happened.  A short time after I had the dream I bought some new gold coloured curtains, and when I got them home and went to take them out of the packet I noticed they were called 'rapture', and I realized that the pattern on them was very much like the exploding stars that I had seen in my dream.  The word 'rapture' means 'to be carried to a state of extreme joy', and that was exactly the state I had been in, watching the stars in my dream.
Shortly after I went to the church that I was attending at the time, and the pastor was saying that he and the family had visited a waterfall in a local park.  Then a lady spoke of waterfalls of wine, the pastor following on speaking of how new wine could not be put into old wineskins but had to be put into new wineskins.  I noticed that the lady who spoke on 'waterfalls of wine' had a dress on with an almost identical pattern to my curtains, only the background colour was brown instead of gold.
I felt that something was being pointed out to me here, that the gold background represented the Lord and the brown background represented the earth, and that the pattern on both the curtains and the dress represented the heavenly glory that Christians should bear, the Glory of the Lord, except that the brown dress represented something earthly, an old wineskin perhaps.

I told my son, who moved to the area recently, that the waterfalls were there, because he had said that when he moved down here, he wanted to visit many of the waterfalls in the area.  He said he knew of the waterfalls and that they were partially man made.  Again I felt that something was being pointed out to me, that the waterfalls were partially man made and the dress with the brown background colour could be speaking spiritually of man's interference with God's word and the Holy Spirit in some way and that if it was, then the Lord would reveal more to me if I prayed and waited.
Some time after, I was reading 2 Kings chapter 2 where the men of the city were telling Elisha that the situation of the city of Jericho was pleasant but the water was bad and the land was unfruitful.  Elisha asked for a new bowl and put salt in it.  Then he went to the spring and threw salt in it, and the word of the Lord came to him to say that the water was made wholesome and that neither death nor miscarriage would come from it.
After I had read this I was thinking about sharing my thoughts with the pastor at the church, and I reached for my UCB daily reading book.  When I opened to the reading for the day it was saying that we all have gaps and that the best way to handle the weaknesses was to work together and it was encouraging us to work more together and not to be like  Diotrephes who not only refused to welcome the brethren, but also stopped those who wanted to welcome them.
I was about to put up on my front room wall a print of two geese painted originally in watercolour.  I was reminded of a book I have called 'Why geese fly farther than eagles' The following is a paragraph from that book which reflects to me the way the body of Christ should function as stated in Ephesians chapter 4 verse 16 '....... joined and knit together by every joint with which it is supplied, when each part is working properly, makes bodily growth and up builds itself in love.'

' When the head goose grabs the wind, air is displaced, which then rushes up to reclaim its space only to see the smiling face of the bird flying behind, whose wings just happen to be in the downward position - a very dangerous condition, which doesn't last for long, because the upward rush gives them a push, and they're right back up where they belong.  This goose then grabs the air again, causing another upward wind, which lifts the bird behind.  And so it goes on down the line.  So the head goose breaks the wind, and all the rest are carried by him, with very little effort, I've heard, on the part of any one bird.  When the head goose has had enough, he or she simply drops back and depends on another bird for strength when strength is what is lacked.
So that's how I found out how the goose can fly from up north to way down south and back again.  But she cannot do it alone, you see.  It's something that must be done in community.  These days it's a popular notion, and people swell with emotion and pride when they think of themselves on the eagle-side, solitary, self-sufficient, strong.  But we are what we are.  That's something we cannot choose.  Though many would wish to be seen as an eagle, I think God made most like the goose.'
Last Sunday the pastor of the church was saying to my friend and myself that if anyone has anything they want to share during the service they have to speak to the appointed convener about it and he will decide whether it should be shared or not.  A few Sundays ago it was preached in church that if people did not go to the doctors with certain sicknesses they would die.  I have been trusting in the Lord solely for a particular healing  and when I got home that day I sought the Lord regarding what had been spoken in church and I opened my Bible to read.  On the page in front of me was a verse in Psalm 118 that I had underlined some time ago.  It reads ' I shall not die, but I shall live, and recount the deeds of the Lord.'  I asked the Lord if He was speaking this word to me, closed my Bible, and opened to exactly the same page, with the same underlined verse speaking to me.

I have to ask, ' If I had asked the Lord this question in church that morning and opened my Bible to this verse twice, would I have been allowed to share this with the church or would the convener have thought that it went against what was being preached and disallowed it, thereby denying this testimony which might have strengthened and encouraged somebody else ?.'

Surely there can only be one convener in the church, the Holy Spirit, and are we guilty of trying to interfere with His work by bringing in our own rules instead of following the guidelines of the scriptures when we come together. Daniel ch. 2 v.44 reads:- 'And in the days of these kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and the kingdom shall not be left to other people; it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever.'

We must not be afrail of a little 'salt' in case it might offend.  As in the story of Elisha in Jericho, it may bring a blessing from the Lord and make the land more fruitful.  We may even, without realizing it, be denying ourselves of having the fullness of all that the Lord has for us by not allowing the body of Christ to function fully as it was intended to.
Why, in my dream, did not my husband or the unbelievers see the full glory of the stars in the heavens?  I could understand why the unbelievers did not see it, but my husband has been baptized and believes in Jesus.  Was he representing somebody who believes but can not see the full glory because he is guided largely by worldly wisdom and knowledge?  In order to be carried to that 'extreme state of joy'  Do we need to be concentrating more on getting rid of the old brown (earthly) wineskins and putting on our new gold (Christ like )ones?

I think we can miss the importance of the Gospel message by not understanding the whole report. These were the Children of Israel, to whom the Gentiles are grafted in. It is about the Jewish people and God's work in them. All of it points to the Messiah. The Feasts of the Lord, the way He led them through the wilderness. We are a part of this now. Your mother was Jewish and so traditionally you would be considered Jewish by the rabbis, yet even you do not seem to understand what it means. I say this because I have heard you say "God's Israel" as though it excludes them. I think your husband in the dream means people who see, but do not see. I hope I have not offended, but the message is an offense whether we whisper it or shout it. It is not our doing, God made it that way. I value your friendship, Brenda, and your writings here on this blog. I believe you have reached many and it is Jesus who saves. Don't forget His people.

What a powerful, memorable dream you had, Brenda, one that has affected you and your Godly perceptions ever since. May God always strengthen you in all goodness and give you peace.
Blessings!

Thank you Martha Jane for your lovely comment and blessings. Sometimes it can be a little difficult to keep our eyes on the Word of God as the spiritual enemy intrudes into our carnal mind, but we have access to the mind of Christ, the one place the enemy can not enter. God bless you.

Hi Brenda,
What a beautiful and thought-provoking post. Until the Lord comes again, which I believe and pray will be very soon, we are to work together as members of His body, the church, to accomplish His purposes. Only Christ is the Head and should direct what role each of us is to play.

Thank you for sharing this inspirational post. May God bless you and your lovely ministry,
Laurie

Hi Laurie, thank you for your lovely comment. I believe the Lord will be back soon too. According to what is going on around the world now, especially in Russia and Ukraine, the scripture 'Except God intervened, all flesh would be destroyed.' appears true. God bless you too Laurie, with your lovely ministry.

Hi Brenda,
Prophecy is unfolding before our eyes -- come quickly, Lord Jesus! May you have a blessed week in Him!

Hi Laurie, prophesy is definitely unfolding before our eyes, and I believe we are very close to the Lord returning. You too have a blessed week in Him.

Hi Sandi, I have managed to get the two missing comments up - at last. I am learning all the time with blogging. The two comments had gone to spam, and I did not know how to deal with this. Regarding the post, it is a post I put up a long time ago and I was sharing what I was going through then, including the dream, and the scriptures shown to me. Our journey in the Lord is ongoing, and just as we grow as a physical child we also grow as a child of God when we have been born again of His Holy Spirit. Whatever we share on our blog could speak to a certain person that is going through a similar time, but not speak to others. This happening regarding the comments going to spam has brought me to learn a little more about blogs. Just as we are learning physically regarding things we are doing in this world we are learning Spiritually regarding our growing as part of the body of Christ on earth. God bless you Sandi with all He has for us in Jesus.

Hi Irina, I have managed to find the comment you left, yes it had gone into spam. Learning each day. God bless you for visiting, and may the Lord bless you too.

Yes Sandi., the church is Spiritually God's Israel, and to born again believers the scriptures are discerned Spiritually. Have left an answer to your latest comment. Always share your feelings, I do not get offended.God bless.

Thank you for saying that about not being offended, Brenda. When my comment did not appear on your blog I was concerned I had offended you.

I do not adhere to replacement theology. The Church (gentile believers) has not replaced Israel and the Jewish people in God's eyes. Rather, we are grafted into the Vine, which is Yeshua Ha Mashiach, the Jewish Messiah spoken of in Isaiah 53.

That is what I believe. Thank you for allowing me to share it here.

God bless you! 💜

Hi again Sandi, regarding what I said about the church being the Israel of God I was referring to Galatians ch.6 verse 16. God bless.

Sandi said...

Isaiah 49, all of it.

Verse 22 says:

“Thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I will lift up mine hand to the Gentiles, and set up my standard to the people: and they shall bring thy sons in their arms, and thy daughters shall be carried upon their shoulders.”

How would the Gentiles do this if they have replaced Israel?

Brenda said...

It depends whether these words are speaking to a person who hasn't come to the Lord yet, through the carnal mind, or speaking to the person who has come to the Lord through the mind of Christ. To the born again person the scriptures are discerned Spiritually.

This is spoken about in 1 Corinthians ch.2 v13.

I don't remember ever having a dream such what you had. But, I have a friend in California who has them all the time. She listened to a lot of teaching on prophecy and end times though which where her dreams come from. I listen to more teaching on discipleship for today.

Hi Brenda,
Interesting discussion between you and Sandi. Whether Jew or Gentile, all must be saved by trusting in Jesus Christ as the promised Messiah. It is sad that so many of His own people failed to recognize Him in His first coming, but that opened the plan of salvation to all people, which was God's plan from the start. Many Jews have been saved by trusting in Christ, beginning with the apostles, and this continues through the present church age. But many more Jews will be saved during the Great Tribulation, or time of Jacob's trouble, when God specifically deals with the nation of Israel through the Holy Spirit speaking through the 144,000 male Jewish virgins He anoints.
May God bless you,
Laurie

Hi Wise Hearted, I only have occasional dreams that bring me to share something on my blog, but one of my blogger friends, Laurie, has many dreams that speak to her spiritually. God bless you.

Hi Laurie, yes, it is good to have a conversation with other believers on our blogs. There was one comment I sent to Sandi however that she did not put up on the post, so we can not always go by what we see. As you know, I was born Jewish, my mother being Jewish but not my father. Both my parents were lovely parents and many things that happened in my childhood were part and parcel of what brought me to the Lord. If my siblings and I used to argue and I would say to my father 'Dad, dad who is right?' my father would reach for his Bible and say 'Let's see what the Lord says'. That was part of my journey to the Lord, and what comes into my mind regarding this is 'Teach a child in the way it should go, and it will remember it when it is older', which was another part of my coming to the Lord. Life is a journey, and we each have our own experiences as we go through it. God bless you Laurie.

Dear Brenda,
In our church, only the sermon in preparation is set before the eyes of the convener, a fellow elder. But for the rest of us, anyone could come to the front and share what God has said or done for him. This happens every week and takes place during the latter half of the worship and before the start of the preaching.
Several times I stood up and shared what I needed to say and were always well received.
You are right. Constant monitoring could frustrate the work of the Holy Spirit.
Blessings to you and your family.

Hi Frank, it sounds like you go to a very nice church gathering, it is exactly how a church gathering should operate. I went to a church when we lived in Adelaide Australia that did exactly that too. It was where I had a miraculous healing. Blessings to you and Alex too.

"...own people failed to recognize Him in His first coming, but that opened the plan of salvation to all people, which was God's plan from the start."

It is probably just the wording, but the Jewish people did not need to reject Jesus for the salvation to be open to the Gentiles. As you said, it was His plan from the beginning.

Sandi said...

I meant that in response to the above comment by Laurie.

Again, I wanted to thank you for allowing me to comment here, Brenda.

I am trying to recall the comment of yours that I did not post. I think I may have left it out because it was more for here than for something on my blog. Do you remember what you said?

From Romans 1:16- first to the Jew then to the Gentile

Hi Brenda,
It is amazing how God plants us right where we need to me, in your case with two loving parents, both of whom played a strong role in your development, and your father teaching you in God's Word. I was raised mostly by a Russian Orthodox grandmother. Although that religion has ties to the Catholic church, and much of their doctrine is not Biblical, my grandmother was a shining example of faith, service, and prayer. Religious background does not determine your salvation -- only faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior can do that.
God bless,
Laurie

Absolutely true Laurie where you say - 'only faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour can do that'. God bless.
