The eye of the hurricane

I stand in the eye of the hurricane
in a place of silent calm

a storm goes on around me
yet I come to no harm
All around there’s turmoil
brought about by Adam’s sin
a warning to me not to leave
the place I’m standing In
Sometimes I feel uncertain
unsure of what to do
inside the raging hurricane
are people I once knew
I want to run and save them
to bring them to this place
to tell them of salvation
brought about by God’s grace
But my love cannot save them
my coat won’t keep them warm
my strength will not protect them
from the terror of the storm
Father show me what to do
teach me Lord to pray
for people trapped in worldliness
in this the ‘evil day’
Father let Your Word take root
inside my troubled heart
show me that this world and You
are just a prayer apart
Teach me Lord to be a light
to tread the path You trod
then teach me Father to be still
and know that YOU ARE GOD

Dear Brenda,
As your poem says, we are all without strength. Even Jesus said on his way to Gethsemane,
"Without me ye can do nothing."
But he also said,
"Be of good cheer, I have overcome the world."
Hence, in Christ, we are more than conquerors.
Blessings to you and your family.

Hi Brenda, Awesome poem. Having been through 3 major hurricanes recently, I totally relate to the analogy. What an apt way to describe the destructive power of sin, for which Jesus is the only Refuge. God bless you, Brenda.

Hi Laurie, thank God that you was brought through those major hurricanes, there are so many things going on in the world that we can only come through with God's strength. I often think about the words 'Be still and know that I am God' when I am going through hard trials, whether physical or spiritual. He is our strength and salvation in so many difficult times. God bless you Laurie.

You capture the danger all around so beautifully. A hurricane describes the world without Jesus and being in relationships with lost ones. Oh, how I wish I could save them, too. But it's all of our choices to step into His peace and walk away from chaos. Thank you for this message and may God bless you for your prayerful heart to reach the lost.

Hi Frank, yes, in Jesus we are more than conquerors. Thank you for your kind comment, and God bless you and Alex.

Hi Mary, thankyou for your kind comment. Yes, the choices are ours, and it is the Lord Who guides us to those He wants us to associate with. I love sharing my experiences with the Lord to many people I meet when I am our. There are many who may not go to a church but want to know about Jesus. God bless.

Amen. He is close to the brokenhearted. He is close to you.

Amen, Brenda! I gave my husband a ring that has "Be still, and know..." written on it in Hebrew, and he wears it every day. God is our Rock and our Refuge, protecting us from all harm. God bless you too!

Hi Laurie, your ring for Richard sounds lovely. I gave my husband a ring many years ago which he wears every day, it has the Jewish word Mizpah on it, which means Watchtower. God bless you and Richard as you stay still in the Lord.

Hi Sandi, yes, our God sent His precious Son, Jesus, to be the sacrificial Lamb , so that we might have access to His ways, thoughts, and eternal life, and He wants all to be saved. God bless.

Hi Brenda, Jewelry like that is often an effective way to witness, as people are curious about the meaning. When they ask, it may open the door to sharing about Jesus. May God bless you and your husband too!
