Obedience to God
Lord make me like Mary, so quick to believe
when the angel foretold what would be
Take doubt from my heart that my mind might perceive
that which You are preparing for me
Yes make me like Mary - God's Word to receive
with a heart and a mind that are meek
Unlike Zachariah who would not believe
and for months was unable to speak
Lord make me like Joseph, who thinking it right
would quietly put Mary away
but when visited by an angel one night
straightway at her side he did stay
Yes, make me like Joseph who simply obeyed
when instructed that night in a dream
to do what You ask Lord and not be afraid
how to others it might make me seem
Lord make me like Jesus - a babe in a womb
awaiting His birth in this world
though knowing one day He'd be sealed in that tomb
was obedient as God's plan unfurled
Yes make me like Jesus - a true child of God
who came into this world to serve
and was born in a barn where animals trod
not the palace that He would deserve
For God was not ordered by man's plan or choice
and it broke on that day all the rules
when He spoke to a maiden through angel's voice
in spite of religion and wisdom of fools
No God is not ordered by man's plan or choice
as He sends You Lord Jesus to Earth
and through riddle and parable echoes His voice
as He brings His great Kingdom to birth
Life is a gift
Life is a gift of precious time - a lease of years untold
do we realize this naked truth as our given days unfold
and should we not be listening each moment of the day
to the voice that's crying out to us to walk the narrow way
One life we have upon this earth to live just as we choose
a span of precious moments of time - time that we must use
We find ourselves within a space - there are others there as well
and why they're brought across our path God alone can tell
We're everyone each loved by Him, every woman, child and man
and the only thing He'll ask of us is to do the best we can
and the only thing remaining as we stand before God's Son
will be God's book of remembrance and the deeds that we have done

May this be true of us too.
Amen Sandi, may we be obedient too.
These poems are both deeply thoughtful and enlightening, Brenda. I loved them both!

Hi Laurie, thank you for your kind comment. I believe that time is short and the Lord will return soon. It is so important that we endeavour to do what the Lord has called us to do. God bless Laurie.
Obedience to God is important.
God bless.
Yes Victor, obedience is very important, and first we have to learn His ways and understand His thoughts. God bless.
Aw, Brenda. Another beautiful reminder of how precious life is. I pray that I also have a faith like Mary's.
Hi Lux, yes, what a wonderful faith Mary had. I continue to pray that the Lord will increase my faith one hundred percent. God bless you with all He has for us in Jesus.
Amen, Brenda -- I agree (and pray) that our Lord will return very soon. May we continue to be faithful in the ministries He has so graciously appointed to us.
Laurie
